• Stand up against Poverty (Standagainstpoverty.org)– October 17 – International day for the Eradication of Poverty– 173,045,325 citizens gathered at over 3,000 events in more than 120
countries demanding that their government eradicate extreme poverty (certified by the Guinness World Records as the new world record and remains the largest mobilization of human beings in recorded history.
• Members of the Human Resources Committee of the House of Commons were contacted in support of Tony Martin's motion for a federal strategy to eliminate poverty. Tony's tabled his motion on November 3 and it will be discussed at the next meeting of the committee on November 17. We heard that MPs on the committee received many phone calls and e-mails in support of the motion.
