A COUPLE from North Somerset are celebrating the best ever start to the New Year – after winning £1million on a lottery scratchcard. Tina and David Chase, of Winscombe, couldn't believe their luck after Tina bought the £5 Merry Millionaire scratchcard in Tesco at Station Road, Cheddar, on a whim on Christmas Eve. After scratching off the symbols to reveal the win, Tina took her card back to the shop. Tina 53, a former housekeeper, said: "I gave the scratchcard to the shop assistant to check, which she did. She told me to take a deep breath." Tina – who had only ever won up to £20 on scratchcards – then dashed to her sister's house in Cheddar where they checked the win with Camelot
