IN “21 JUMP STREET”

ABSTRACT

Slang is confidential informal English spoken which created and used by a

particular community. This study discusses about an analysis of slang in “21 Jump

Street” movie. The purpose of this study is to find the types of slang languange, types

of speech act and the social function slang used in “21 Jump Street”movie. The

source of the data was taken from the script “21 Jump Street”movie. “21 Jump

Street”movie are classified as American comedy movies released on 16 Maret 2012

and directed by Phil Lord dan Chris Miller.

The research design used in this study is descriptive qualitative research

with a document or content analysis as the research type. This thesis described one

by one word or phrase of slang found from “21 Jump Street” movie by using

dictionaries and theory related about slang. It is the characteristics of type slang.

The research findings there are slang languange that used, such as asshole,

goddamn, fuck, bitch, motherfucker, what the hell and etc. Not all of slang languange

is negative word, but there are positive word such as buddy and guy. The speech act,

there are illocutionary and perlocutionary, where illocutionary was more than

perlocutionary. Types of slang , they are public house slang and society slang, where

society slang was more than public house slang. Then social function, they are

intimacy, jocularity and offensiveness, where offensiveness was more than intimacy

and jocularity.

This study is highly expected to give contribution for the reader to know

about slangs clearly. It can help the reader speak English fluently. And it can also be

expected to enrich new English vocabulary used in the daily conversation.

ANALISIS BAHASA SLANG DALAM FILM “21 JUMP STREET”

ABSTRAK

Slang adalah ungkapan bahasa inggris yang tidak formal bersifat rahasia yang

diciptakan san digunakan oleh kelompok tertentu. Penelitian ini mendiskusikan

tentang analisis slang dalam film 21 Jump Street. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah

untuk menemukan tipe slang, jenis tindak tutur dan fungsi sosial yang digunakan

dalam film 21 Jump Street. Sumber data diperoleh dari naskah film 21 Jump Street.

Film 21 Jump Street diklasifikasikan sebagai film Amerika yang bergaya komedi

yang dirilis pada 16 Maret 2012 dan disutradarai oleh Phil Lord dan Chris Miller.

Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian

deskriptif kualitatif dengan dokumen atau analisis isi sebagai tipe penilitiannya.

Skripsi ini mendiskripsikan satu persatu slang kata maupun frase yang ditemukan

dari film 21 Jump Street dengan menggunakan beberapa kamus slang dan teori yang

berhubungan dengan slang. Teori yang digunakan yaitu karateristik slang.

Penelitian menemukan adanya bahasa gaul yang digunakan, seperti bajingan,

sialan, brengsek, jalang, dan lain-lain. Tidaksemua bahasa slang adalah kata-kata

negatif, tetapi ada kata positif seperti teman dan boy atau seorang laki-laki. Seperti

tindak tutur, ada ilokusi dan perlocutionary, di mana ilokusi lebih dari

perlocutionary. Jenis gaul, society slang dan public house slang, di mana society

slang lebih banyak dari public house slang. Fungsi sosial,seperti keintiman, kelucuan

dan kemarahan/ketersinggungan, di mana kemarahan lebih banyak dari keintiman

dan kelucuan.

Penelitian ini sangat diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi untuk pembaca

untuk mengetahui slang dengan jelas. Ini dapat membantu pembaca berbahasa

Inggris dengan lancar. Dan ini juga diharapkan dapat memperkaya kosakata Bahasa

Inggris baru untuk digunakan dalam percakapan sehari-hari.

CURRICULUM VITAE

Tutut Andriani was born on October 01th, 1992 in Sukoharjo, She is a daughter from

Supardi and Poniyem (alm) She has four sisters namely Supriyati, Sulisniati, Pujiati,

Fitri Sularni and her brother Purnomo.

She graduated from SD Negeri 1 Nguter in 2005. Then, she attended SMP 1

Nguter 2005-2008. She continued her study at MAN 1 Sukoharjo and took Science

program and finished her study in 2011. In order to be English teacher, she entered

the State Islamic College of

Palangka Raya in 2011 which now it

becomes IAIN Palangka Raya, and

she graduates on 2016.
