Afacilitythatprovides24-hournursingcareandsupervisiontothosewhohavebeenassessedasneedingtoliveinaplacewith24-houraccesstonursingstaff.Halfofthelong-termcarehomesinPEIarepublicandtheremainderareprivately-owned.Privately-ownedhomesmustbelicensedtooperate.Whatiscommunitycare? Acommunitycarefacilityisaprivateorcooperativefacilitythatprovidesaccommodation,meals,housekeeping,assistance,andsupervisionwithdailyactivitiesandwithpersonalcare.24-hournursingisnotprovided.Thecostofaccommodationistheresident’sresponsibility–thoughfinancialassistancemaybeavailableonalimitedbasisincertaincasesMustbelicensedtooperate.Whataredualfacilities?
