Message from ASAE President & CEOI want to convey a tremendous thank you to everyone who donated to APAC over the past two

fiscal years. Each one of you has enabled ASAE to make a strong, enduring impact on the status

of associations on Capitol Hill. Your donation has helped APAC become well recognized across

Congress and has allowed us to better champion the cause of all associations.

In fiscal year 2019, APAC raised over $122,000, making it the best fundraising cycle in history! With

those much-needed resources, APAC and ASAE stood strong throughout the 2020 primaries and

was able to push the repeal of the unrelated business income tax (UBIT) on nonprofit parking and

transit benefits over the finish line. Last fiscal year, we built on this achievement and expanded

the APAC family with new fundraisers like our regional event in Madison, Wisconsin and our

Trivia Night for young professionals. While the second half of the FY20 fundraising year brought

unforeseen challenges for everyone due to the COVID-19 pandemic, because of your generosity

and support, APAC raised over $94,000 right in time for the 2020 election. In December, our

community saw a major victory when Congress expanded the Paycheck Protection Program

expansion to many 501(c)6 organizations. This achievement is due to the collective work of

countless association professionals across the country who helped make expansion a reality.

Included in this report are some of the highlights of the election season, specifically a list of

contributors who gave voluntary personal contributions to APAC in the fiscal year 2020, as well as

a list of candidates that APAC was able to support in the 2020 elections.

As the nation continues to recover from the pandemic and tackle systemic issues in our political

system, we need to remain proactive and involved. With so many new legislators in the 117th

Congress and the forces of gridlock constantly at work, it is vital that policymakers understand

the important role associations play in our economy and maintaining our quality of life. For those

reasons, we have set a goal of raising $110,000 in fiscal year 2021. To meet this ambitious goal,

APAC is challenging ASAE councils, committees, and groups to achieve APAC Champion status by

reaching 75% participation as APAC donors before 2021 Annual Meeting. I also want to emphasize

APAC’s matching gift program which allows donors to designate a favorite charity as recipient of

the matching gift, at no additional cost to you. You can help two worthy causes for the cost of one.

I hope that you find this report to be helpful and informative and on behalf of the entire

association industry I want to thank you again for your dedicated and continued support.

Susan Robertson, CAE
