NONDUAL TRIKA ŚAIVISM KUṆḌALINĪ SĀDHANA & THE UPĀYAS: THE TRIADIC PATH TO LIBERATION
A Four-Module Course with Swami Khecaranatha
COURSE OVERVIEW
This program offered by Swami Khecarantha focuses on the path to spiritual liberation
expounded in the ancient nondual traditions of Kashmir. The program begins with a four-week
program titled Nondual Trika Śaivism, which focuses on the darśana (the view) of Trika Śaivism.
It is followed by three subsequent five-week programs covering the three upāyas (means to
liberation), which are āṇavopāya: the path of effort, śāktopāya: the path of energy, and
śāmbhavopāya: the path of awareness.
The essence of Swami Khecaranatha’s teachings are succinctly expressed in the term
“Heart of Consciousness: Kuṇḍalinī Sādhana,” which describes the pure, undivided Supreme
Consciousness that is at once our innermost selves as well as our source. Kuṇḍalinī
Sādhana describes the practices that bring forth that direct recognition in our own awareness.
The expansion of heart and consciousness leads to the experience that we are simply that
Pure Consciousness. In this program Swami Khecaranatha gives a full exposition and set of
practices for each stage of the spiritual journey. These teachings are based on his ardent
study of scripture as well as personal revelation.
Upāyas are the means to liberation and the state of Consciousness
(Śiva) experienced within ourselves. — Swami Khecaranatha
SWAMI KHECARANATHA
Swami Khecaranatha (Nathaji) teaches from his personal experience and
revelations, as well as from the practices and knowledge he received from
Swami Rudrananda and Bhagavan Nityananda. His study of the richness and
wisdom of ancient scripture provides a means to articulate the teachings of
his lineage within the larger context of these powerful nondual traditions—
while emphasizing the essence of his teaching, which is to empower
students to discover their own innate divinity.
Nathaji is an authentic master of Kuṇḍalinī Sādhana and śakti transmission
with nearly five decades of teaching experience. Kuṇḍalinī is the energy
and essence of life, and Kuṇḍalinī Sādhana is the practice of becoming aware of that essence. As the kuṇḍalinī
is awakened and ascends back to its source we become fully aware of our total unity with the Divine.
Swami Khecaranatha emphasizes that the most important aspect of sādhana is one’s own direct experience,
and that all other elements of practice, including the relationship with a teacher, are only supports in bringing
about the state of liberation that is every individual’s divine birthright. The simplicity of Nathaji’s teaching is
best expressed in his core message: “Open your heart, surrender to the śakti, reside in Consciousness.”
Remember every day what your life is about; it is about freedom, love, and joy. Living in that is your divine right. — Swami Khecaranatha

The Divine Heart is the abode of Śiva and Śakti. Śiva is the unbounded Consciousness and infinite light known as prakāśa.
Śakti is the power of that Consciousness; the openness of absolute freedom and spontaneity known as vimarśa , which empowers that light to express itself — to appear in and as
form. Prakāśa, which is also the autonomous awareness and power called Svātantrya, manifests as Kuṇḍalinī Śakti —
the liquid light of Consciousness that illuminates each of us as an individuated expression of Itself.
Nondual exposition asserts that the world is based on two interactive principles. Prakāśa is understood as the pure light of
Consciousness that illuminates all of life, while vimarśa is the self-reflective capacity of Consciousness to see the light and recognize
Itself as that light. The illuminating power of prakāśa is present within every level of creation.
Vimarśa is the mirror of Consciousness that reflects all that light, the self-referential capacity of Infinite Consciousness to know and experience itself; to not just be a light bulb but to know it, and to
experience everything It shines on as Itself because It creates out of Itself everything It shines on. Prakāśa and vimarśa are of the nature of absolute divine sovereignty. Eternal and infinite, from within the
light of Its own Self, Divine Consciousness creates the universe.
The important thing to understand is that we are not separate from that. We are that. Those same divine capacities to illuminate life and
to be aware of ourselves are how we come to know the infinite, absolute Consciousness. This is the highest teaching: We are that light. It emerges from us and it creates us, all at the same time.
By the power of vimarśa, not only do we have within us the capacity to be aware of our own state or level of consciousness, we also
have the power to change our level of consciousness.
Ignorance of our true Self is the cause of all suffering and endless transmigration, while the recognition and direct experience of our
true identity is alone the cause of freedom from separation. As human beings, we experience suffering because we perceive ourselves to be separate from our source, Divine Consciousness.
Due to śaktipāta (the descent of grace) the longing for liberation springs forth from our own heart, igniting the search for ourselves in
God’s heart. Through Kuṇḍalinī Sādhana we surrender to the śakti pulsating within as the true agency of action. We move past the veils of separation that create dualistic experience. As we come to reside
in the Heart of Consciousness, we recognize ourselves as pure consciousness, Śiva. Our life is transformed into an expression
and celebration of unconditional freedom, love, and joy.

TESTIMONIALS
What Previous Participants Say About Their Experience
The ancient Tantric masters left us with a timeless legacy —a menu of
paths to liberation—suitable for everybody. Those teachings really come
alive if elucidated by a master, such as Swamiji. This program is a rare
jewel shining a path to freedom. It’s a jewel not to be worn as a necklace,
but one whose resonance is to be internalized, and if practiced in earnest,
transforms our own experience of life from confusion, doubt, suffering,
conditions, to joy and freedom. — NB
Khecaranatha has attained, through the transmission of his teachers and a lifetime of practice and profound
personal experience, a deep understanding of nondual Trika Śaivism. Thus, he summates in his realization
and teachings, what was considered to be the most elevated practice of all the Tantric traditions.”
—MARK DYCZKOWSKI, PH.D., one of the world’s foremost authorities on Tantric studies and tradition
Grounded in his own experience, Nathaji clearly and concisely explicates
a wisdom tradition that traces its history back millennia. He has provided
a framework for guiding and understanding my own spiritual practice
and experience, deeply resonating with me on both a contemplative and
experiential level. — Stephen
Swami Khecaranatha’s year-long series on Tantric Sādhana was both rich
in depth, and filled with sublime detail. The program has been absolutely
life-changing. The depth, the beauty, the grace with which Swami
Khecaranatha expresses these luminous teachings is in full flower. He is not
only offering the philosophical framework of the spiritually breathtaking
Tantric teachings of Kashmir Śaivism, but through the magic of transmission
he is also offering the teachings as an experiential reality. Anyone who is
sincere about their spiritual growth should definitely join in this absolute feast
of consciousness and energy which are the teachings of Tantric Sādhana as
explicated by a great master, Swami Khecaranatha. — Deniece & Dhyanesh
