A Cert 2 restricted permit holder: Could be a plumber or an electrician who has ONLY completed as little as a TWO DAY SHORT COURSE to obtain an install certificate. They are only permitted to carry out installation work; nothing more. Has NOT completed a 4 year air conditioning apprenticeship. Is not qualified to install split system air conditioners over 18kW cooling capacity. Is not qualified to install multi-head split systems. Can add refrigerant during installation but after that, they cannot connect gauges to check gas pressures, or re-gas a unit. Cannot repair gas leaks or carry out any warranty work. Is not skilled or qualified to service, repair or maintain any air conditioner. They are not fully qualified Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Specialists. The NSW Office of Fair Trading does not recognise Cert 2. All installation work in NSW must be carried out by a qualified Fridgy.
