The International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) is the

leading global service agency working to protect the world’s children from

exploitation and abduction.

Model Legislation

Review of national legislation in place in 196 countries around the world to

gain a better understanding of existing legislation and gauge where the issue stands on national political agendas

Results• 89 countries have no legislation at all

that specifically addresses child pornography.

• Only 45 countries have legislation sufficient to combat child pornography.

Law Enforcement Training• Launched in 2003 in conjunction with Interpol

and with the support of Microsoft

• Designed to provide law enforcement with the tools and techniques to investigate Internet-related child exploitation cases.

• Between 2003 and 2008: – Conducted 36 trainings– Trained 3,219 participants– 113 countries represented

Training: Next Steps• Advanced training for law enforcement

and prosecutors– In 2010, conducted training Russia, Brazil,

Guatemala, Guyana and more.

• Technology tools – Working with Microsoft to bring the Child

Exploitation Tracking System (CETS) to law enforcement worldwide.

– Currently in use in 8 Countries (Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Italy, Romania, Spain and the United Kingdom)
