Höganäs Borgestad is a multinational organization, and member of Borgestad ASA, which is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in Norway. Our first refractory brick was produced in 1825. Today, our main production, along with our research and development depart-ment, is still based in Sweden.

Alkali-resistant monolithicsAlkali presence is impossible to avoid in cement production. When alkali- and acid vapours infi ltrate the refractory linings and combine with condensing steam, they form acids that corrode anchors and may ultimately lead to lining collapse.

To improve your refractory life, we off er HÖGANÄS CAST LC 50AR castable with exception-ally high alkali- and abrasion resistance that will help your lining last longer.

Magnus high-performance magnesite bricksThe severe conditions in the upper transition zone, the burning zone and the lower transition zone require refractories with outstanding performance.

Our new generation magnesite bricks Magnus is based on the highest quality raw materials available and manufactured according to strict quality standards. The bricks off er mechanical and thermo-mechanical properties, optimized permeability and exceptional corrosion resistance. FIREBOLT® refractory precasts save you timeThe profi tability of your operation depends on short stoppages and fast installations.

That is why we have developed FIREBOLT® prefabricated blocks. Delivered already cured and dried they reduce installation time and

cost and facilitate reparations. High-quality materials and additives, high manufacture precision, tight tolerances, as well as unique installation method guarantee that our pre-cast blocks are the superior alternative to other lining methods.

Measure your lining thicknessRegular lining measurement is a safe way to avoid unplanned stops in a cement kiln.

Höganäs Borgestad's Linometer XLNT reduces the time it takes to measure the linings’ condition by 90%. This reduces your costs and increases safety for operators. While traditional methods require drilling holes in the refractory material, the Linometer simply requires access to the lining’s surface for quick, precise measurments with no damage.

Eliminate costly build-upsBuild-ups reduce cyclone effi ciency and their removal ultimately requires a costly production stop. Regardless of the method used, removal of build-ups is time-consuming and dangerous work.

To help you save time and money, we offer refractories specially designed to eliminate or minimize build-ups, such as Alsic 500 bricks and HÖGANÄS CAST LC S30 castable.

COMPREHENSIVE TESTINGAll our materials are subjected to comprehensive testing using the most sophisticated equipment. Among the tests we perform are:• Bulk density and apparent porosity measures• Measurements of thermal conductivity to ensure

our materials perform optimally in a given application• Refractoriness under Load (RUL) to identify

deformation resistance under a defined load,temperature and time

• Measurements of permeability to ascertain howwell a refractory will stand up to slag, moltenmetal or gas penetration during service

Through continuous sampling of all incoming raw materials, we maintain strict control over the quality of the product entering the Höganäs Borgestad production system.

At out R&D department, we continuously perform a large number of scientific tests and calculations.

BATCH PREPARATIONThe raw materials are crushed, ground and classified into proper size fractions. The pre-scribed fraction of ground material is weighed and mixed. When ready, the batches are transported to presses. Unshaped refractory materials are transferred into bags.

PRESSINGIn the hydraulic presses a shaped product is formed. The inspection of product dimensions and bulk density is fully automated.

RAW MATERIAL SUPPLYOur raw material comes from the world’s best sources. Some of our current production is based on our own raw material from an open pit in the Bjuv area in Sweden.

FIRINGThe bricks are heated to high temperatures in our tunnel kilns for sintering. Handling of all kiln cars is fully automated.

UNLOADINGUnloading and finishing are fully automated to ensure uniformity. The bricks’ physical, chemical, mechanical and thermo-mechanical properties are inspected carefully by rigid quality control procedures.

QUICK AND SAFE MATERIAL DELIVERIESEvery product is securely packed according to its prop-erties, with clear labelling on packages and pallets.

Our logistics coordinators have extensive experience and are dedicated to assigned markets to ensure a high and consistent level of customer service. Thanks to a well-developed carrier portfolio they are able to recommend the optimal transport provider, negotiate the best rates for each shipment and secure that your order reaches you on time, at the safest manner.

Spreading knowledge

In order to further strengthen our offering for the cement industry, Höganäs Borgestad has formed the Technical Group Cement (TGC), an expert group responsible for technical development and support on a worldwide basis.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AT YOUR SERVICETGC is the link between our R&D department and our customers. It collects the requirements for each project and communicates them to our research engineers who then develop solutions that address your specifi c challenges.

TGC’s goals are to improve existing design solutions and installation procedures, monitor material perfor-mance, perform market research, provide training and ensure the highest level of service for our customers. To secure the quality of our products, TGC also performs trials simulating the customer environment.

TGC also follows all relevant market trends and partici-pates in seminars and symposiums to gain and share knowledge about refractory solutions and to adapt our solutions to any new standards or regulations.

CUSTOMIZED TRAINING Refractory technology is changing rapidly. To help you understand the benefits of different refractory solutions, Höganäs Borgestad offers a wide range of training solutions that can be custom-designed for each customer and facility.
