There are many good reasons to coat concrete: aesthetics, ease of maintenance, wear protection and as a barrier against water or other contaminants. Without Alocit, new or ‘green’ concrete might need up to 28 days before it can be coated - and moisture in concrete from the environment could also prevent coating adhesion - but, using Alocit, wet or green concrete can be coated straight away. An example of what this can mean to a contractor is the construction of the Singapore MRT. For this project, pre-cast tunnel sections were to be steam- cured and then coated before installation. Although the original specification did not include Alocit, the contractor knew that significant savings could be made if delays caused by moisture in the concrete could be avoided. So a system was tested on newly-manufactured sections using the specified top coat but substituting Alocit for the prime coat. The Alocit system was a complete success, with test results showing full adhesion to the substrate despite the application conditions (see left). Following the tests, Alocit was used to prime coat all the MRT concrete tunnel sections immediately after they were removed from the moulds allowing significant cost and time savings for the client. Alocit primers and top coats have also been successfully used elsewhere around the world on green, wet and contaminated floors, culverts, tunnels, bunds and bridges. There are many good reasons to coat concrete: aesthetics, ease of

maintenance, wear protection and as a barrier against water or other

contaminants. Without Alocit, new or ‘green’ concrete might need up

to 28 days before it can be coated - and moisture in concrete from the

environment could also prevent coating adhesion - but, using Alocit,

wet or green concrete can be coated straight away.

An example of what this

can mean to a contractor is

the construction of the

Singapore MRT. For this

project, pre-cast tunnel

sections were to be steam-

cured and then coated

before installation. Although the original

specification did not include

Alocit, the contractor knew

that significant savings

could be made if delays

caused by moisture in the

concrete could be avoided.

So a system was tested on

sections using the specified

top coat but substituting

Alocit for the prime coat. The Alocit system was a

complete success, with test

adhesion to the substrate

despite the application

cond i t ions ( see le f t ) .

Following the tests, Alocit

was used to prime coat all

the MRT concrete tunnel

sections immediately after

they were removed from

the mou ld s a l l ow ing

significant cost and time

savings for the client.Alocit primers and top

coats have also been

successfully used elsewhere

around the world on green,

wet and contaminated

floors, culverts, tunnels,

bunds and bridges.
