Coming Fall 2017: A Healthy You and 22q Conference - September 23

May 3This live webinar will be led by Lauren Madhoun, MS, CCC-CLP and Kathryn Stephens Obrynba, MD, both from Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Obrynba will first discuss typical growth and weight gain patterns seen in infants and children with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11.2 DS). She will explain reasons for poor weight gain and linear growth, as well as reasons for constitutional growth delay and growth hormone deficiency.

Ms. Madhoun will lead a discussion on common feeding and swallowing difficulties for infants and children diagnosed with 22q11.2 DS. These may include oral motor discoordination, nasal leakage of foods/liquids, difficulty advancing solids or accepting various food textures, decreased airway protection (e.g., aspiration), and upper esophageal dysfunction.

The format of the discussion will be interactive, with a presentation by both experts followed by time for questions from the live web audience.
