EPHESIANS 2:4-10 (NIV)

“Because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

CALL TO WORSHIP L: Dear Friends, it is by grace we have been saved, through faith. It is the gift of God given to all people. P: God’s grace is unearnable. It is given to humanity based on God’s love proclaimed in Jesus Christ without cost or obligation. L: As God has lavished upon us an unending supply of grace, let us also freely give grace to others; loving them as God loves us. P: May God enable us to pass onto others the grace given to us.

HYMN “Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy” No. 486

(Verses 1, 2 & 3) Refrain after each verse

PRAYER OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY (In Unison)

Dear God, thank you for the love and forgiveness you so freely give to your children; your grace is offered to all through Jesus Christ. Help us, Lord, to receive your grace in our lives. Help us, then, to pass on to others the same love and forgiveness you give to us.

L: Let us now pray together the prayer that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught us:

P: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

CHRONIC ILLNESS AND CAREGIVER’S SUPPORT GROUPS

TODAY, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Chronic Illness and Caregiver’s Support Groups will both meet. The Chronic Illness Peer Support Group is for individuals suffering from a chronic illness and the Caregiver Support Group is for individuals serving as caregivers. Please take note of the descriptions below so that you know which group to attend and where each group meets.

Chronic Illness Peer Support Group – Fireside Room North A chronic illness can be anything from cancer, diabetes, heart disease, fibromyalgia, arthritis, lupus, chronic fatigue, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Crohn’s disease, reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), or complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). It could also be a condition such as chronic migraines or back pain from a car accident. Kathy Bilak and Richard Wilharm hope to provide an opportunity and the space for people living with a long-term illness to get together and give each other empathetic, emotional, and practical help.

Caregiver Support Group – Classroom 3 Caring for a loved one, though rewarding, can also be very challenging. The responsibility is often very demanding of time, energy, health, and resources. Pastor Lynne hopes to teach and encourage self-care, as well as provide a forum of support and understanding from others facing similar situations.
