ABOUT SHANGHAI.

Shanghai is the biggest city in China, and a harmonic mixture of the traditional and the modern, the east and the west. Shanghai has completely changed in the last decade. The great metropolis of SHANGHAI is currently undergoing one of the fastest economic expansions that the world has ever seen. While shops overflow and the skyline fills with skyscrapers, Shanghai now seems certain to recapture its position as East Asia's leading business city, a status it last held before World War II. Visiting and touring Shanghai are truly enjoyable for many.

Page 49: › iccn › Final Program10-11.doc  · Web view(ICCN'07) and. The 3rd Shanghai International Conference on Physiological Biophysics – Cognitive Neurodynamics (SICPB'07) Joint

New Suzhou Museum was designed by the most famous Chinese-American architect Mr. Ieoh Ming Pei, who is also the designer of the glass transparent pyramid of The Louvre in Paris, France. As Suzhou is Mr. Pei's native town, he spent a few years of his childhood in Suzhou. Mr. Pei said, "it did have an influence on my work." This is why he selected this as his last design, which merges the traditional Southern Chinese architectural design with the future. Zhong Wang Fu is the most complete historic architectural complex of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom (about 1860 AD). It was classified as the National Priority Preservative Unit of the Cultural Relics by Chinese Government. The Humble Administrator's Garden is one of the four most famous gardens in China, which was designed by WEN Zenming, one of the Four Talent Painters in the Ming Dynasty. It took 16 years to complete the garden between 1513 - 1528. The principal element in its layout is water, which accounts for one fifth of its total area. Most of the major buildings are constructed beside water. Since 1961, it has been a historical monument for national preservation.Transportation: Conference busThe conference bus will leave your hotel at 12:00pm.
