In 2011 a sharp decline in the number of Milos tourists was noted, resulting fromthe on-set of the Greek crisis
S&B took on the challenge to create a branded product that would promotetourism, building onMilos’ comparative advantages
MILOTERRANEAN was born!
The project was initiated in the autumn of 2012.

• 17,500 vines of a Cyclades variety (Assyrtiko) in the first 50 hectaresplanted in Feb 2014
• A new economic, environmentally friendly activity at the site of arestored perlite mine in Milos island
• Transform a best practice land reclamation that simply follows amining permit’s environmental conditions, to a new financial activitywith multiple benefits for Milos
• Encourage Milos’ residents to begin using more environmentallyfriendly farming methods – organic cultivation method
– irrigationfrom recycled water, i.e. not derived from the island’saquifer
– revival of traditional activity, ingrained in the island’s history andtestimonials
• Educate visitors about industrial minerals
• Attract visitors since wine production is linked with culture,hospitality, quality, and tradition.
