8 to 8:40 Morning announcements
All the children are on the rug/carpet
area.
We go over the calendar
Say the Pledge of Allegiance
Go over weather chart
Have a good morning song. The
students sing and dance along to the
song.
8:40 to 9:15 Still have the children stay at the
carpet/rug
Read “The Hat” by Jan Brett
Ask questions about the story as I am
reading the story.
The questions are relating to winter.

9:15 to 10 Have the students go back to their
desks. (See Picture 1)
Pass around a hat that looks similar to the hat in the story.
Have pictures of animals and ask the students based off who has the hat, asking questions about the animal’s habitat and asking how they keep warm in the cold winter.
The teacher has makes a chart and fills it in based off the students’ responses.
10 to 10:15 to 10:30 Recess
Snack time.
Have carrots for them to count,
related to what horses eat in the story.
Have Apple Cider for them to drink.

10:30 to 11:30 Math lesson- Counting and adding
with numbers up to nine. (See Picture
2 & 3)
Have a fill in the blank work sheet for
the students to fill in with the numbers.
Have the students write in whichever
number they pull out from the pile and
add them together.
Use “snow balls” (cotton balls) as
manipulatives to add.
Teacher puts cotton balls and
prepared mittens with numbers on
them in the center of the group desks.
11:30 to 12:15 to 12:30 Lunch break and Lunch Recess
Read the 2nd book- “Annie and the
Wild Animals,” By Jan Brett

12:30 to 1:15 Writing Lesson – Matching Mittens (See
Picture 4)
Matching capital letters with lower
case letter
The letters are the letters we have
already gone over for the year.
The teacher places them in the center
of each desk group.
1:15 to 1:45 to 2:00 Music class- Students go to separate
classroom at this time. Teacher prep
time.
Afternoon Recess

2:00 to 2:35 Design their own “Snow Man.”
Students get their choice of a black, blue, or grey color.
They glue cotton balls to the paper to design a snow man.
They color in the rest of the picture to answer the questions.
Questions to answer:
1. Name the snowman,
2. what they like to eat,
3. what their favorite winter activity is.
2:35 to 2:45 to 3:00 Each student comes up to the front of
the room and shows their picture to
the class. Answer the questions to
explain the picture of the story.
Clean up the room and desks. Get
coats on and prepare back packs.
