Just in time for the holidays!

is Going GREEN.

Beginning in October, flyers, newsletters and announcements will be posted on the PTA website rather than sending home paper copies. An email will be set to let everyone know about events and fundraisers. Information will also be available on

the Bowne-Munro PTA Facebook page.

Bowne spiritwear is also going GREEN. In true East Brunswick fashion, Bowne will become a bear

this year. Order your new green spiritwear today!

Last Call for Class Parents! Being a class parent is a great way to stay connected with your child, the teacher and classmates. Class parents are responsible for coordinating 4 class parties (Halloween, Holiday, Valentine's Day, and Year-End). You will also be responsible for emergency phone calls should the need arise. Typically there are 2-3 Class parents for each class. Please keep in mind that you must be a member of the Bowne PTA to be chosen as a class parent. The deadline to submit your information is 9/18. If selected as a class parent, there will be a meeting at 6:30pm before the PTA meeting on 9/22. If interested, please contact: Anita Tsoukalas ([email protected]) or Tricia Seaver (tpseaver@comcast .net).

Kris Grove and Tricia Seaver really know how to start a school year. Our teachers and staff were treated to a welcome back breakfast loaded with some great goodies. A special shout-out to Jim Logan for getting rid of the weeds around our school and making the gardens look beautiful.

Once of the great things about Bowne is all of the great clubs...student council/video newsmakers, drama, band, orchestra, chorus, safety patrol and the new art club. In addition, the PTA runs a couple of groups to compliment these. Look for information to come home soon about

Did you know that the Bowne-Munro

School is 60 years old this year?

To celebrate the official opening

of Bowne-Munro School in 1954, we

gathered a committee of teacher, staff

and PTA volunteers to bring a full-day

of fun activities to Bowne.

The birthday party will be Friday, October 10 during the school

hours. The celebration will continue into the evening with a special

edition of Bowne-Munro Game Night...compliments

of the PTA, EBEF and The Brain Show. Look

for more information to come home soon.

We've heard it all before..."Ugh, the PTA is running another

fundraiser? Now what do they want money for?" There is no

secret that our schools are constantly being forced to trim

budgets sometimes eliminating things that are important to our

school...so that is where the PTA steps in. Although the PTA

cannot pay for every single program that is cut, we do our best to

bring back the ones that we think benefit our school the most.

Here is just a sampling of what the PTA paid for (or partially paid

for) last year:

Student Agendas for every 3rd

, 4th and 5

th grader;

Assemblies

5th grade events (Eagle's Landing, Moving Up, Yearbook Ice Cream Party, Rockets, and shirts);

Theater Week;

New books for the library and for each classroom through Scholastic;

Fit Girls

Sports Squad

Ice Cream Social

Outdoor Movie Night

T-shirts for the Dance-A-Thon;

2013 school gift = 10 iPad minis/covers and a fish tank;

2014 school gift = 10 iPad minis/covers.

Several grants for our teachers and staff.

Bowne Bytes

Sports Squad

So next time we send home a fundraising booklet, we hope you

know that every dime is put to good use. Rest assured, we do

not expect every family to participate in every fundraiser...just the

ones that are right for your family.

Upcoming Fundraising Events:

PTA Membership Drive: Of your $10, $2.25 is

sent to support National PTA programs, $1.75 is

sent to the New Jersey PTA, and $6 goes

directly to Bowne-Munro.

Ongoing Fundraisers Throughout The Year

Here are some super easy ways to earn a few dollars that will go directly to our school.

Campbells Labels

Just like Box Tops, simply clip the labels and send them in a bag with your child's name and teacher. For more information, visit labelsforeducation.com. It's that easy! For more information, contact Tina Mix [email protected]. Stop & Shop

Just register your Stop & Shop card at www.stopandshop.com/aplus. Bowne-Munro ID # is 11691. Even if you registered last year, you must re-register. It's that easy! Shop-A-Roo

Download the free Shoparoo app or visit www.shoparoo.com and each time you make a purchase (no matter what products you buy), take a picture of the receipt and Bowne will earn cash. ShopARoo works with major corporations to gather buying habits and turn it into anonymous market research reports. Personal information does not need to be submitted...only the store, date, total and most of the items. It's that easy! Target

Visit Target's Take Charge of Education site and register your Target credit card. Bowne will receive 1% of your REDcard purchases. To date, Target has given Bowne-Munro $5,169.56. It's that easy! Box Tops Online

Make sure you sign up to support our school at BTFE.com. It's totally free. Before making an online purchase, check out the BTFE.com/marketplace and see if your purchase qualifies for box top credit. Over 300 stores are participating. It's that easy! Box Tops

Box Tops for Education is a national school earnings program. Since 1996, schools across the country have earned over half a billion dollars from Box Tops. We earn cash for every single Box Top we collect. IT'S THAT EASY! Last year, we earned $1364 and we just know we can beat it this year. We have some fun awards and incentives, including extra recess for the class that collects the most each month!!! For more information, contact Tina Mix at [email protected].
