(INTRO):
By developing and building complete mobile tyre changing vehicles,
Bearcat Tyres, Australia’s largest distributor of industrial tyres, is on the
road to a better tyre and wheel service for the large off-the-road vehicles in
the metropolitan and urban industries.
Mark Bloxham, Managing Director, Bearcat Tyres:
We identified a segment of our customer base, which cried-out for a fast efficient tyre and wheel change
service. We have aimed this service at container handling, quarry and excavation, building and
construction; industries that can’t afford long stoppages or down-time for tyre and wheel maintenance.
I saw the specialised crane-arm and tyre-hand in operation and decided to design a mobile service unit in
Australia to incorporate the technology. It’s been a long time coming, lots of planning and design to
configure the most efficient combination of components. We started assembly just on a year ago, took
our time and worked out any little bugs.
The CEMS truck is the latest edition to our fleet of specialised on-site fitting vehicles allowing us to
properly service just about any machine in a major fleet—proving our desire to be the industry’s best.
(TECHNICAL DETAILS):
An Isuzu 10 tonne truck was used as the base frame, augmented with:
• An imported crane with tyre-hand able to lift 2,100 kilos;
• A heavy-duty compressor (46CFM @ 175 PSI);
• Hydraulic 50 tonne jacks;
• Air-over hydraulic porta-power and bead breaker;
• A heavy duty steel body with pull-out drawers and safe storage facilities;
• A full compliment of workshop tools and last but not least high intensity
work lights on the crane and work area, safety beacons and witches cones to
secure a safe working zone.
The crane arm and the tyre-hand, operated by remote cable or wireless, can be rotated and lifted with
such precision, that the wheel can be slipped over the wheel studs without the operator actually touching
the wheel. The operator moves in while the wheel is in place and held by the tyre-hand to secure the nuts
hydraulically.

(PURPOSE):
The truck is designed to transport the new tyres to an on-site location,
quickly and, most importantly, safely in minimum amount of time so that
equipment can get back into service faster. The new grab will handle tyres
up to 2.8 meters in diameter enabling the strip and fitment of tyres
including reach stackers, large forklifts, loaders, dump trucks and other
equipment with heavy wheels. The use of a remote tyre grab means the tyre technician can work
independently to get the job done without using your equipment (such as a forklift). The deck scape is
large enough to carry a set of 6 large tyres onboard to complete a full change in one transit.
(ADVANTAGES):
This service is aimed at essential machinery, that can’t be spared from
the workplace. So we offer the on-site service to dramatically decrease
down time, travelling costs and hassles. Incorporated in the outfit is a full
set of high quality tools required to complete the job allowing the Bearcat
tyre technician to set up a safe working area and complete a job safely
without the involvement of your staff and tools.
We also have an exchange service for most forklifts and construction machinery. With ISO standard
wheels and tyres fitted at the workshop and delivered ready to go on site we save even more down-time.
(USING THE SERVICE):
The first of the Bearcat CEMS vehicles has been utilised regularly in
Sydney with great success with a number industries extremely pleased
with benefits of the new fitting service. Bearcat’s Perth branch has also
received their CEMS truck and have quickly put the truck in action setting
a new benchmark in on-site service equipment. With one planned for each
capital city, be sure to contact your local branch to discuss your fleet’s tyre maintenance. For more

(ADDITIONAL SERVICES):
Bearcat provides a complete and thorough safety and service check on every
call-out to properly and professionally optimise the performance of your equip-
ment and ensure the tyre and wheel are safe for continued use. Along with this
fitting services we can also recommend a number of products to promote
longer life and better performance. We stock the undercarriage parts you may
need in the event of a damaged wheel, rim or hub & stub axle assembly to get you up and going faster.
These additional optional services that can be utilising with the CEMS truck include:
• ARNCO ReSeal
Arnco’s ReSeal product is designed to combat the problems of consistent tyre use that
result in premature tyre damage. ReSeal is a tyre bead sealant, tyre coolant, corrosion
inhibitor and rim conditioner all in one with the ability to also fill holes up to 7mm
upon penetration thanks to Kevlar fibres. ReSeal is highly recommended for heavy
equipment used in long load and shift applications and specific applications where
under inflation and air loss are a regular occurrence.
• ARNCO Flat Proofing
The Arnco range of Superfills are suited to a range different applications for
equipment that requires a soft “air-like ride” to more extreme applications such as
metal recycling. Pumped into your tyres, Arnco flatproofing polymers set to a solid
rubber type core meaning the tyre will never go flat! Bearcat will gladly go onsite and
evaluate which one of the 4 types is best suited for you.
• BEARCAT Wheels & Rim Components
Wheels suffer from a huge amount of daily stress. Our wheel division in Sydney
manufactures a huge range of high quality wheels and rim components to suit the
majority of OEM fitments. The wheel range covers just about every off-the-road
application using pneumatic, solid/resilient and polyurethane tyres including drop
centre wheels, flat base wheels and multi piece wheels. We can also custom build or
modify your existing wheels.
