Elk of the Year 2019/2020: Dennis McInerney

Officer of the Year: JoAnn Crossley/PER/Exalted Ruler 2020/2021

ELK OF THE MONTH FOR SEPTEMBER: Tom Redding/THANK YOU FOR ALL

YOU DO FOR OUR LODGE.

Scholarship The 2020-2021 Scholarship season has begun. The Elk’s are second only to the Federal government in the amount of money

they give away each year. Although scholarships can seem confusing at times, I hope to demystify the process and help our

members’ children and grandchildren as well as the Lacey High School students apply for all the scholarships that are available

to them.

The first round of deadlines is for the Elk’s National Foundation “Most Valuable Student Scholarship” (all seniors in H.S. are eli-

gible) (Deadline November 15, 2020). Our lodge can send three boys and three girls to the District for consideration in the ENF

Most Valuable Student competition. The State and the ENF begin awarding money at this level.

The ENF “Legacy Awards” ($4000) (any child, grandchild, step-child, step-grandchild or legal ward of an Elk is eligible) deadline

is February 5, 2021. The applications for both scholarships are online, just go to www.elks.org/enf/scholars.

The local Lacey Elk’s Legacy Scholarship and the State Family Scholarship application process will begin in the late winter.

(More to follow on that process later)

Lastly, I would like to thank the Lodge for giving me the opportunity to help with the Scholarship Program at Lacey Lodge. My

back ground is in high school guidance and college counseling. I am looking forward to working with any students you know

that would like help in completing the applications or any other questions they might have. I can be reached at (201)327-1241

or by e-mail at [email protected]

To: All Lodge members and Guests

From: Trustees

Subject: Use of outdoor picnic areas and marina grounds

It is our goal to have an environment at the Lodge which supports and encourages a peaceful, clean and safe place to

meet with friends. Our volunteers work very hard to meet these goals for all of you. However, at times we all need to

be reminded of some practices which may create an unsafe, unsanitary, intimidating and Lodge licensure exposure

environment.

We have available to all members House Rules and Dock contracts which guide our performance as we enjoy and re-

spect each other.

The following items have been identified as recent problems which we would like to ask members and guests to be

apprised of:

Renters of boat slips, who are paid in full, shall have first priority in using the shaded areas around the entire

length of the Marina. They may leave their grills, picnic benches or other related items from week to week.

-Personal items left overnight in these shaded areas, not noted above, shall be removed at the end of the day or

become the property of the lodge and disposed of at the discretion of the Trustees.

-At no time ever is public urination or lewdness acceptable. There are ample restrooms for your convenience.

Driving on non-paved areas is not permitted. We have many lines buried underground and we never want to com-

promised the integrity of same.

We have ample dumpsters for your trash which we ask all

members to use at the end of each day. Removing your trash

is not the responsibility of our Dock / Grounds committee

and it also creates an environment to encourage rodents

and seagulls to make an unnecessary mess for someone else

to clean up.

At no time may members or guests bring alcohol onto the

property. In doing so the Lodges’ liquor licenses in put in

jeopardy. Boaters are permitted to have alcohol on their

boats and in the immediate vicinity of their boat per their

contract.
