A Message from the Headmistress The sun has been shining on Cumnor House Girls' School in so many ways, it has been delightful to welcome the girls back after their Spring break with their sunny and welcoming smiles; and the Summer term has been heralded with some much missed sunshine. It has been lovely to meet parents at the start and end of the day, and also during the Year 4 parents’ evening, and I thank you so much for your very warm welcome. We have so much to look forward to this term with the introduction of girls’ cricket, Swim Gala and Sports Days, some interesting day trips, plays, concerts and Year 6 venturing forth on their Bushcraft adventures. Not to forget the Parents' Association smoothie sales, Summer Fair and Kids on the Catwalk. We also look forward to the parents' information talks on Screen Dependency by Aric Sigman and Sleep Problems by Andrea Grace which will take place here, at the Girls' School. As I begin my journey with Cumnor House Girls' School, I have made “Journey” my theme for this week’s assemblies. Talking with the girls that journeys are often best made with companions to share experiences. We thought about how the straight and easy journey is not necessarily the most rewarding; that sometimes the more difficult path is the one to follow as it will be enriched by the people that we meet, the things that we do whilst acknowledging that the challenges that we face will all add “sparkle”. We thought about the barriers we would encounter in life, and in our learning, and how we would respond to them. If we sat down and allowed a difficulty to be a barrier, then our journey would stop; but we could get through a barrier by acknowledging that it is there and it is tricky but by being proactive and doing something about it. We should ignore the little voice in our head that sometimes tells us we can’t do it; we should not be afraid to ask for help or by have a moment to think and problem solve our way through. That if we did these things, then we would achieve and add another “sparkle” to our path. We know that we each have our own journey, filled with our own challenges and achievements but our journey makes us who we are – independent, unafraid problem-solvers who allow ourselves to journey forward. I am looking forward to my journey here, getting to know my travelling companions; I acknowledge that there will be some barriers but I really look forward to the “sparkle”. A Message from the HeadmistressThe sun has been shining on Cumnor House Girls' School in so many ways, it has been delightful

to welcome the girls back after their Spring break with their sunny and welcoming smiles; and the

Summer term has been heralded with some much missed sunshine. It has been lovely to meet

parents at the start and end of the day, and also during the Year 4 parents’ evening, and I thank

you so much for your very warm welcome.

We have so much to look forward to this term with the introduction of girls’ cricket, Swim Gala and

Sports Days, some interesting day trips, plays, concerts and Year 6 venturing forth on their

Bushcraft adventures. Not to forget the Parents' Association smoothie sales, Summer Fair and

Kids on the Catwalk. We also look forward to the parents' information talks on Screen

Dependency by Aric Sigman and Sleep Problems by Andrea Grace which will take place

here, at the Girls' School.

As I begin my journey with Cumnor House Girls' School, I have made “Journey” my theme for this

week’s assemblies. Talking with the girls that journeys are often best made with companions to

share experiences. We thought about how the straight and easy journey is not necessarily the

most rewarding; that sometimes the more difficult path is the one to follow as it will be enriched by

the people that we meet, the things that we do whilst acknowledging that the challenges that we

face will all add “sparkle”. We thought about the barriers we would encounter in life, and in our

learning, and how we would respond to them. If we sat down and allowed a difficulty to be a

barrier, then our journey would stop; but we could get through a barrier by acknowledging that it is

there and it is tricky but by being proactive and doing something about it. We should ignore the

little voice in our head that sometimes tells us we can’t do it; we should not be afraid to ask for

help or by have a moment to think and problem solve our way through. That if we did these

things, then we would achieve and add another “sparkle” to our path. We know that we each

have our own journey, filled with our own challenges and achievements but our journey makes us

who we are – independent, unafraid problem-solvers who allow ourselves to journey forward.

I am looking forward to my journey here, getting to know my travelling companions; I acknowledge

that there will be some barriers but I really look forward to the “sparkle”.
