Senior School Swimming and Safety Program On Monday 13 November, the Senior School participated in the Open Water Learning Experience at Lysterfield Lake, presented by Life Saving Australia. Students learnt how to identify a rip, basic CPR, put on a life jacket and several rescue techniques. It was a stunning day and loads of fun.

Junior School Swimming Program With Summer upon us, ‘Water Safety’ is crucial. The very excited Junior School attended swimming lessons at Kings in Langwarrin early Term 4. Over the 6 sessions, held on both Mondays and Wednesdays, the students enjoyed their lessons and learnt all about water safety. Such an experience is an annual event, as part of the Physical Vibe program.

Congratulations to Layne M. And Lara E.

Once again, our Year 5 students Layne M. and Lara E., have excelled in the area of Aerobics and made

us all proud! They recently travelled to the Netherlands and represented Australia in the Cadet Petite Fitness Teams for FISAF International. They

came fourth in the world. What an amazing feat for these two young girls. Layne and

Lara are the epitome of commitment, determination and passion in all they do.

They are exemplary

role models to

their peers and so

deserving of their

huge success.

Brilliant effort girls!

Due to their positive approach to learning and their passion for the environment, the Year 4 students chosen to represent CSPS in the ‘i Sea i Care’ program for 2018 are Destiny L., Frazer H., Angel J. and Tayla A.. The i sea i care program is run

by the Dolphin Research Institute and involves the four students attending four educational field trips throughout the year, to learn about the marine life and environment. As CSPS i sea i care Ambassadors, the students will report back after each excursion, to share what they have learnt with the school community. Their first excursion is to Seal Rocks. They will travel on a ferry to view the Fur Seal colony near Phillip Island. This is an educational and fun experience and one they are all looking forward to. Congratulations to these four outstanding students for being chosen as our 2018 i sea i care ambassadors.

Hoooptime Regional Finalists On Thursday, 2 November, a group of Year 4 students participated in the Hooptime Regional Finals. They won 3 games and lost 2. In one of the games, the 3 pointers were flowing. The team made the qualifier at State level but unfortunately lost and their journey then ended. A huge thanks to the parents that came, cheered and helped out on the day and congratulations to the Hoopsters; you represented our school with Positivity, Persistence, Pride and Passion.

¡Hola amigos! In our Cultural

Fusion program, Year 1 and 2 students have been learning about the Day of the Dead (Spanish: Dia de los Muertos). This is a Mexican holiday celebrated all around the world between October, 31 and November, 2. It is a celebration of deceased loved ones with music, decorations, special foods and dress ups. We discovered why and how they celebrate compared with ‘Halloween’ in Australia. Students created their own skull necklaces and the results were very creative!

The CSPS annual Book Week was held last week. We celebrated a love of reading throughout the

week. The Book Fair was held in the library each afternoon. A huge thank you to the volunteers who worked on the book fair and an even bigger thanks to those who purchased books. The school will be receiving $750 worth of books. We held a whole school read together on the basketball court and topped off the week with the Book Parade. So many characters came out to play. Who was your favourite...?

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are invited from experienced companies or individuals, to be short-listed for the provision of grounds maintenance for CSPS. Requirements: 1 day per week for a 3 month probationary period with the intent of a long term arrangement, commencing the week Monday, 22 January 2018 (exact date to be confirmed). Please submit your EOI (max. 3 pages) no later than close of business, Wednesday, 22 November, 2017, addressed to: Jodi Price, School Council President & Sally Herbert, Assistant Principal, via the school office.
