The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has adopted the Cluster Development approach as a key strategy for enhancing the productivity and competitiveness as well as capacity building of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs).

Objectives of the Scheme: - To support the sustainability and growth of MSEs by addressing common issues such as improvement of technology, skills and quality, market access, access to capital, etc.

- To build capacity of MSEs for common supportive action through formation of self help groups, consortia, upgradation of associations, etc.

- To create/upgrade infrastructural facilities in the new/existing industrial areas/clusters of MSEs.

- To set up common facility centres (for testing, training centre, raw material depot, effluent treatment, complementing production processes, etc).

The Center for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) is implementing agency for implementing Cluster Development Project in Gujarat.

Under this scheme, common facility centre is being set in Aji-GIDC located in Rajkot for Pump & Foundry Cluster.

The main motive of Skill Up-gradation Centres is to set up such centres at GIDC Estates / Other registered Estates/ Industrial Parks/ SEZs / Investment Regions to minimize shortage of readily employable manpower in various segments.

CED Officials monitor the functioning of skill training imparted at such centres. Along with monitoring, visits at regular intervals take place to be assured about the necessary infrastructure that includes machinery, equipment, etc. required at SUC to impart the skill training. CED makes these SUCs equipped with machinery and necessary equipments to impart training alongwith right practical skills.

Here are such SUC centres equipped by CED with latest machinery and training equipments.

With the objective to spread entrepreneurship to the masses, CED conducts Entrepreneurship Awareness Programs to inculcate the entrepreneurial culture and environment in such a way that students get encouraged to opt for entrepreneurial career rather than searching for a job. These kind of awareness programs are also useful for the professors, faculties of the colleges so that in turn they can also motivate and guide their students for entrepreneurial career.

Here is one such EAP held at Bhawan's College in Ahmedabad.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARENESS PROGRAM (EAP)

CED does its best to spread knowledge about its various programs regarding entrepreneurship and skill development among the youth. On the occasion of newly joined Deputy Section Officers of Sachivalaya, an orientation was undertaken making them aware about Entrepreneurship and Skill Development activities run by CED.

At CED, we facilitate entrepreneurship spirit among the business enthusiasts by devoting our knowledge, time and effort.

Entrepreneruship is the backbone of economy for any country. It is the role of CED to fulfill such entrepreneurial dreams at adequate level in Gujarat.

Despite large requirement of manpower, there has been a demand - supply mismatch resulting in shortage of skilled manpower in various industries.

CED aims to develop industry responsive and readily availableskilled manpower focusing on local resources.

Sustainability & growth, capacity building & infrastructure facilities are a key to development of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs)

Through cluster development, CED aims to enhance the productivity, competitiveness as well as capacity building of Micro and Small Enterprises.

Recognizing that a quantitative increase in the number of entrepreneurs and a qualitative improvement in entrepreneurship could considerably accelerate the industrial and thereby economic development, entrepreneruship programs by CED are aimed towards developing small entrepreneurs in a systemic manner. Following are the programs that CED undertakes for the same:

- Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP)- Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP)- Human Resources Development & Achievement Motivation Program (HRD)- Second Generation Program (SGP)- Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC)- Faculty Development Program (FDP)
