BLD 25th Anniversary

BLD Toronto is celebrating its 25th Anniversary on September 19, 2015 and we are coming out

with a souvenir program that will help defray the costs of our 25th Anniversary celebration and

fund our community’s various programs. Let’s hold hands, pray and rally together to solicit as

many ads as possible so we will reach our quota of approximately 35 pages per Apostolate.

We have early bird rates for those sponsors who will submit signed advertising agreement and art

-work before June 30, 2015.

As a prize, the individual who can solicit the highest value of ads will win an Apple Mini

Tablet.

THEME

We, the followers of Jesus, bear much fruit

when we believe and proclaim the Gospel.

WORD

Acts 1:1-11; Ps 47:2-3,6-7,8-9; Eph 1:17-23 or

ORDER

“Go into all the world and proclaim the good

news to the whole creation .” (Mk 16:15)

“Clap your hands, all you peoples, shout to God

with loud songs of Joy.” (Ps 47;1)

DIRECTION

Wait and listen to the prompting of the Holy

Spirit before we go out and proclaim.

Read and treasure the Word of God in our

hearts so that the evil one may not tempt us.

REFLECTION

This coming Sunday, the universal Church is

celebrating the glorious Ascension of our Lord

Jesus Christ. And with his Ascension into

heaven with the Father, we are asked by God if

we are prepared to continue to proclaim Jesus’

passion, death and resurrection.

In the First reading, Jesus asked his disciples to

stay put in Jerusalem and wait for the promise

of his Father - the gift of the Holy Spirit so that

they may witness his love, power and glory.

The psalmist proclaims the Lord’s majesty as

he shouts with joy Jesus’ glorious Ascension

into heaven.

The letter of St Paul to the Ephesians calls us to

lead a life worthy of his calling - a life of hu-

mility and gentleness, with patience, bearing

with one another in love, making every effort

to maintain the unity of the Holy Spirit

for we are a part of that continuing mystery of

Jesus’ presence in the world: The power of His

Holy Spirit in us, with us, and through us.

PROMISE “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes

upon you.” (Acts 1:18)

through the bond of oneness, love and peace.

The gospel reading according to St. Mark ex-

horts us to proclaim the good news throughout

the world with the promise that those who be-

lieve and were baptized will be saved; while

those who don’t believe will be condemned. By

the power of the Holy Spirit that is given to us,

Jesus’ assures us that with these gifts, we are

empowered to heal the sick, and cast out de-

mons in his mighty name. The Holy Spirit has

given each Christian special gifts for building

the Church.

Our own community is the result of the work

of the same Holy Spirit that descended upon

the Apostles nearly 2000 years ago. It was the

fire burning in the people who were baptized

in the Holy Spirit that witnessed to us the

power that changed their lives. We are always

being challenged to be witnesses of what we

have seen and heard. We have the responsibil-

ity to proclaim the Good News to others espe-

cially to those who have not heard of it. Jesus’

ascension is a call for us to continually make

Him present by allowing ourselves to become a

living “Jesus” to other people. Our task is to

proclaim God’s gift of salvation, not only to the

“people of Israel” but to “all the nations” – and

this includes our homes, offices, schools, and

work places.

God’s love and the gift of salvation are in-

tended for everyone – not just for a chosen few,

but for all those who are willing to accept

God’s words and be transformed by them. All

of us believers have been given a share in this

task – to be heralds of the good news and am-

bassadors for Jesus Christ, the Savior of the

world. We have not been left alone in this task,

Singles Encounter Weekend #18 reaps 13 graduates

“For thus says the Lord God, “I myself will look after and tend my sheep. As a shepherd tends his flock when he finds

himself among his scattered sheep, so will I tend my sheep.” (Ezekiel 34:11-12)

The Lord is always faithful and holds true to His word as the Good Shepherd. We praise and

thank the Lord for blessing our ministry with 13 candidates of Singles Encounter #18. As they

continue their spiritual journey through the Singles Ministry, we pray that they may continue

to seek Him and incorporate Him in their everyday lives. We also pray for the Class Shep-

herds, Cesar & Lorie Cabalatungan and RJ Pabalinas, that the Lord may use them mightily as

they guide and nurture this class to love one another and to love others as the Lord would.

Welcome SE#18 to the Singles Ministry! With loving and open arms, we, your brothers and

sisters in Christ, lovingly embrace you all as one body as we take our journey to Christ to-

gether!

Singles Encounter Weekend #18 was held on May 8-10, 2015 at the Valley of the Mother of God

in Orangeville. Our 13 new brothers and sisters-in-Christ had an amazing spiritual weekend

with the Lord.
