A new day dawns 2016 RERUM NOVARUM ORATION Fr. Séan McDonagh S.S.E., M.A., Ph.D. is a world renowned ecological theologian, born in Nenagh, Ireland. He regularly teaches on the connection between justice and peace issues, environmental sustainability and faith. He has strongly urged the church to take up St John Paul II’s challenge to undergo an ‘ecological conversion’ advocating that environmental justice must be a core Catholic activity. A prolific author, his latest book titled On Care for Our Common Home takes the encyclical of Pope Francis, Laudato Sí , and adds reflections on its various themes. Jacqui Rémond is the Executive Director of Catholic Earthcare, the ecological agency of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference. She has extensive experience as an environmental educator and advocate, lecturing at Notre Dame University, following secondary teaching positions in Melbourne, Sydney and the Kimberley. Jacqui is Convenor of the National Council of Churches Australia Eco Mission Project. Jacqui is a passionate advocate for the environment, particularly in Australia’s beautiful north. He regularly teaches on the connection between justice and peace issues, environmental sustainability and faith.
