PLEASE NOTE: Purchasing this curriculum grants the purchaser a license to use it for students and teachers of ONE choir. If multiple choirs are using this curriculum, an additional curriculum package should be purchased for each choir. Please do not reproduce these resources or share with others outside the specific choir for which they were purchased. Help us ensure that future generations will benefit from Growing in Grace Children’s Music Curriculum.

Keep on Singing: SHORT STORIES, TALL TRUTHS is a flexible curriculum for children’s music ministries, suitable for in-person teaching, distance learning, or a hybrid of both. Stay connected to children and their families with spiritual encouragement and uplifting songs and activities. With a greater degree of adaptability than traditional curriculum and more opportunities for video instruction, this engaging resource is easily integrated into the classroom or the home.

Keep on Singing: Short Stories, Tall Truths features all new content from Growing in Grace. Thematically, it draws from some of the best-known words of Jesus —the Parables. Through developmentally-appropriate songs and activities, children will delve into six parables at the heart of Christian faith. Challenge children to connect with Jesus through biblical lessons that have withstood the test of time.

The curriculum includes 11 easy-to-learn, scripture-based songs for general use, Palm Sunday, and Easter, as well as scores, student scores, teaching steps, visuals, demonstration and accompaniment recordings, and a sing-along video for each song. The curriculum also includes 10 video-based activities designed to work well in groups or for a single student, along with activity teaching steps and activity visuals. 15 KIDPages with teaching steps and 15 age-appropriate devotionals complete the package.

New Curriculum Features• The following materials are now included in the Keep on Singing curriculum:

° Song Teaching Steps ° Activity Teaching Steps ° Song Teaching Visuals ° Activity Visuals ° Session Outline Cards

In-Person Teaching• Print and distribute materials to teachers as needed.• Print, assemble, and display visuals as needed. PrintReady Visuals are oversized PDFs formatted to import into multimedia presentations or to be printed on large format printers. Hard copies of PrintReady Visuals are also available for purchase from Growing in Grace in our professionally printed Poster Kit.• Printing tips:

° Ensure the Auto Rotate and Center option is checked in the print dialogue box. ° Most color items may be printed and used successfully in grayscale if a color printer is not

available. ° 8.5” x 11” visuals may be easily enlarged to 11”x17” size. ° Some materials should be printed on cardstock and/or laminated. See teaching steps. ° Print as many copies of curriculum materials and songs as are needed for your choir. ° MultiPrint PDFs combine the same type of components into a single PDF for convenient

printing.• If desired, incorporate Keep on Singing: Short Stories, Tall Truths song videos and activity videos into your in-person teaching.

Distance Learning• Create custom, digital choir sessions by combining curriculum components that meet the

unique needs of your group. Include song videos, activity videos, and a devotional to fit your schedule.

• Some activity videos begin with instructions that explain motions or information needed to successfully complete the activity. If children are already familiar with the activity, you can start the video at the time marking where the activity begins.

• Email or send printed copies of KIDPages to children to complete at home. KIDPage Teaching Steps contain puzzle answers and can be distributed to children and their families.

• Email or deliver Student Scores to homes. Children may follow the printed music as they listen to song videos or participate in online choir sessions.

• Devotionals may be shared online and/or printed and delivered to homes. • Share links for song and activity videos for families to access at their convenience. Encourage

children to watch videos and sing in between sessions. You may share links for individual videos or you may share a link containing all Preschool videos in our Keep on Singing: Short Stories, Tall Truths Preschool Spring Showcase:

Preschool Tips and Extras

Early Arriver Ideas• Make name tags. (Nametags can be found in Curriculum Companion: Preparations, Programs, & Plusses

for Children’s Music Ministry which can be purchased online at: growing-in-grace.com.)• Repeat an activity the children have enjoyed and could do independently.• Do a “freeze” movement activity. Play a Demo or Track recording and have children move to the music.

Pause the recording randomly and have children “freeze.” Resume the recording and continue as time allows. Option—give specifi c suggestions to freeze as a baseball player, a guitar player, the Statue of Liberty, etc.

• Place some rhythm instruments in a circle. Have children sit by an instrument, pick it up, and play it on the steady beat to a Demo or Track recording. Pause the recording, have children place the instrument down, and move to the next spot and pick up a new instrument. Resume recording and continue as time allows.

• Make an additional set of Animal Cards from the What Do See? Activity, or Vegetable Cards from the Chop, Chop, Chippity Chop Activity, and play a memory game.

• Place the Five Voices Visuals or the Emotions Visual on the fl oor. Have children take turns dropping a bean bag on one of the voices or emotions and repeating a phrase from a song they are learning with the appropriate voice or expression.

• Have children move up and down to match what you play on the step bells. • Attach a large piece of butcher paper on the wall with crayons nearby. Allow children to free-draw or

give suggestions for drawing something related to the parables theme.• Place books in a quiet area.

Special Items Alert• Hula Hoops® for “Plenty” Song Teaching Step 1 in Session 6

Thanksgiving or Christmas Sharing Time• Choose the songs and activities children will share.• Send invitations to parents three weeks before and reminders the following weeks.• Prepare refreshments, if desired.• Gather extra chairs if sharing in your regular choir room.

• Distribute ribbon streamers.• Demonstrate singing the chorus (mm. 11-18) and moving a streamer

back and forth overhead in an arc for each Ho-san-na (pronounced hoh-zah-nah).

• Repeat, having children sing and move their streamers with you.• Cue Demo 5 to measure 11, and sing with the streamer movements.

Preschool DevotionalLove Your Neighbor

DEVOTIONAL 2—PRESCHOOL

Love Your Neighbor

Scripture: In everything, do to others what you would want them to do to you. Matthew 7:12 (NIRV)

Devotional: The Bible says we are to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Someone asked Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?”, and Jesus told this parable:

A man was traveling down the road when robbers attacked him. They took his clothes and left him hurt and lying on the ground. Later, two different men saw the man that was hurt but just kept walking by.

If those two men had been the ones hurt, do you think they would have wanted someone to stop and help them?

Then a third man walked by. He felt sorry for the hurt man and helped him. He bandaged his scrapes, put him on his own donkey, took him to an inn, and took care of him.

The third man went out of his way to help another man whom he did not even know. Jesus wants us to understand that anyone who needs help is our neighbor, and we should be kind to them. Who can you help today?

Prayer: Dear God,Help us show love for all people. Help us to be willing to help even when it’s hard or takes time. When we see someone who needs help, we pray we would treat them as we would want to be treated.Amen.
