Chennai Floods is a natural disaster of unprecedented scale
It provided lessons to improve urban planning & improve citys Governance
Unless you allow the drains to flow freely to the sea, water will be clogged & that is what unfortunately happened here

Chennai had about 600 lakes in the 1980s.
Now, only a fraction of the lakes are in a healthy
condition
Chennai Floods A direct result of unregulated
urbanization
Chennai has lakes with naturally-built flood
discharge channels.
We have built over the drains, blocking the flow
of water. We have forgotten the art of drainage.

To live, the residents of Chennai occupied the lakes and their drainages
Resulted in stagnation of water
Needs were also increased

Chennai can be further prevented from flooding by constructing structures using proper plans
Lakes should not be occupied by people
Drains of lakes should not be occupied
Lakes must be properly maintained
Flooding is a result of global warming
We must be ready anytime to face any disaster
Cities should be planned and constructed
Though Chennai Floods was devastating, it taught us humanity.
