The course is built around processing a 2D marine seismic line from field records through to a final migrated image. The attendees will gain hands-on experience as they process the data themselves tackling the common workflows and problems that arise during a processing project. By comparing the parameter choices made and results obtained by all of the attendees at each processing stage, critical parameters and quality control issues can be identified and discussed, including limitations on processing methodology and processing artefacts. Course Tutors Guy Maslen is has been a seismic data processor for 14 years and is currently GNS Sciences’ Commercial Processing Manager. Prior to joining GNS Science Guy worked for in Europe for Veritas and CGG, including 2D/3D marine and land processing, on-board processing and depth imaging. Guy has a MSc is Applied Geophysics from the University of Birmingham. Dr. Tony Harrison joined GNS Science in 2005, but has over ten years experience in using GLOBE Claritas at a variety of locations. Tony currently combines commercial project processing with providing support and advice to GLOBE Claritas users worldwide. Tony has a MSc in Applied Geophysics from the Victoria University and a PhD from the University of Cambridge. The practical sessions are conducted using GNS Sciences’ GLOBE Claritas seismic processing software, and have been developed with supporting parameter, processing flows and support files so that the primary focus for the attendees is on the practicalities of processing rather than learning how to use the software.
