Dr David GelbDr David Gelb received the DDS degree in 1973 and Certificate in Periodontics in 1975 from Columbia University, Certificate in Implant Surgery University of Toronto 1986 and Certificate in Implant Prosthetics OSI in 1989. He served as faculty member at University of Connecticut, United States Navy in Bethesda, Columbia University and Hartford Hospital. He is Diplomat of the American Academy of Periodontology, a Diplomat of

the American Academy Osseointegration, Fellow American and International College of Dentists, and Fellow Pierre Fouchard Academy. He is one of the pioneers in Immediate Implant Surgery and developer of the Gelb Depth Gauge and Implant Tracker. His private practice in West Hartford, Connecticut focuses on finite aesthetics in implant dentistry, immediate implant surgery and immediate loading.

Dr Keng Mun WongDr Keng Mun Wong received a BDS degree from the National University of Singapore and an MSD degree and Certificate in Prosthodontics from the University of Washington. In recognition for his Esthetic Dentistry achievements, he was invited by the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry and European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry to speak at their scientific meeting in Venice. He has published numerous articles in peer-

reviewed journals, and lectures worldwide. Dr Wong is Director and founder of the T32 Dental Centre and his practice focuses on restorative care, including cosmetic dentistry, full mouth reconstruction, fixed, removable and implant prosthodontics.

“I have added immediate implant surgery to my clinical protocol more than 10 years ago. Frankly, with the correct indication, proper technique and implant system, it can be a predictable, efficient and effective procedure. Patients are happy with the outcome.”

(Dr Keng Mun Wong)

“We as professionals have a responsibility to provide the most predictable, most expeditious, and most aesthetic transition from teeth to implants; Immediate Implant - Immediate Load fulfills that objective.“A Patient Preferred Implant Service”

Course OverviewThis unique program encourages the participant to explore the boundaries of modern implant dentistry in relation to implant loading protocols, which have changed significantly since the first osseointegrated implant was placed. Treatment planning the anterior single implant to ensure esthetic results requires a thorough study and understanding of the biology and behaviour of the peri-implant tissues. Decreased treatment time, fewer surgical procedures, reduced costs, and patient preference for non-removable restorations are among the benefits of prescribing an Immediate Function protocol. In this course, definitions, treatment time differences and outcomes are clarified for immediate and delayed implant placement following extraction(s), and for the various restoration approaches. The critical success factors for immediate protocol are explored in this program with both lecture and practical exercises to allow for the development of these essential skills. Developing research suggests that there may be significant physiological benefits associated with this procedure that improve patient outcome and experience, and may be regarded as a growing area of today’s specialist practice.

Learning Outcomes

- Evolution of the concept – from conventional to immediate implant placement

- Merits and practical implications of immediate placement with documented success rates and scientific evidence

- Case selection and treatment planning- Atraumatic, minimally invasive extraction techniques

and armamentarium- Understanding the modified drilling protocol to ensure

correct spatial orientation of implant

- Selecting the right implant – impact of implant macro and micro design

- Importance of temporary restoration for optimal emergence profile and maintenance of soft and hard tissue health

- Challenges and management of complications associated with concept
