ABOUT US

“Creativity is as important as literacy and numeracy. You can‟t be a creative thinker if you‟re not

stimulating your mind, just like you can‟t be an Olympic athlete if you don‟t train regularly. You

can be creative in anything – in Maths, engineering, philosophy, law – as much as you can in

music, or painting or dance”. These are some famous and inspiring lines by Sir Kenneth

Robinson who is a noted British author, speaker and international advisor on education to

government, education and arts bodies.

Our yearly event, Exuberance which is organized by the Art and Intellect committee at SCET

aims to instill and inspire the students to explore and express their creativity which is an essential

part in the overall development of the students. This year the event was conducted on 15th

-16th

February 2019. Given below are the details of the festival.

Writing and Poster Making Competition for the students. This innovative concept of having

competition on Teacher‟s Day was the idea of our respected Principal Madam Dr.Vaishali

Mungurwadi . The themes of these competitions were centered on „teachers‟. The students

turned up in large numbers and articulated their thoughts about teachers beautifully through

their writing and their paintings.

The event started with a welcome speech by Prof. Sudhir Yardi (Dean, SAWC). Principal

Prof. (Dr.) Vaishali Mungurwadi addressed all the CRs, LRs, GS, CS and the participants

with an inspiring talk about the importance of teachers in our lives and about the right

6. EXUBERANCE 2019

The idea of Exuberance was mooted in the year 2009 whereby the idea was to conduct all

the activities in the span of 1 and half day. This normally would be spread out on Friday

and Saturday so that teaching be least hampered. The term Exuberance was coined by the

student team. Exuberance has since then grown up in leaps and bounds in terms of student

participation, organization and enthusiasm.

The event is completely funded by student activity council (SAC). It was from the year

2013 that we started getting a share of SAC funds. It was in 2014 that we started with the

event Flash mob to attract student participation which was obviously an instant success!

Later it was decided that the Event Exuberance would be declared open by a Flash mob. The

Flash mobs have always been theme oriented. And this year was no exception.

The theme of Exuberance 2019 was conceptualized in one of the committee meetings of

Team Art and Intellect in 2019. The theme was based on “Do something fantastic...Cut the

plastic” wherein all the events would focus on topics /ideas revolving around renewable

materials and reusability of plastic. The main idea behind this concept was to inculcate

among the students, the principles of using sustainable and renewable sources of energy.
