CTACE PARTNERSHIP WITH MICROSOFT & CODE.ORG
CTACE and Computer Programming Development resulted in
• Teachers from Everglades, Monarch, Northeast and Piper High Schools volunteered to be trained at the Microsoft Latin American Headquarters in Microsoft Mobile App Programming. Microsoft donated each school two Windows Phones for the students to test their Apps.
• Teachers from Fort Lauderdale, McArthur, South Broward, and Taravella High Schools volunteered to be trained in Microsoft Construct2 software for game programming.
• Collaborated with OSPA and Guidance to create course sequence programming to encourage computer coding and enrollment in A.P. Computer Science. Code.org transforms students from simply consumers of technology to creators of technology, all while opening doors to high-paying, high-demand jobs in the 21st Century
• Internal partnerships with SBBC IT and potential development of student internships

SOL AR PANEL ENGINEERING PROJECT
Description Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 4 Phase 5
Seven schools
collaborate to develop a
solar panel project that
includes design,
manufacturing,
distribution and
marketing.
Essential Question: How
do we convey the need
for a new product?
Thank You For Arguing
Supplemental Material
(Ted Talk Video): "The
Structure of Great Talks"
Two schools
collaborative on
developing a business and
marketing for the new
product (with input and
advice from a school in
Scotland, as the ultimate
goal was to distribute
and sell the product at a
big-box store in
Scotland).The plan
includes input from
business mentors as well
as college professors.
Another school designs
the solar panel using
AutoCAD software,
collaborating for needed
information from the
business and marketing
plan. Dimensions of the
project are shared with
yet another school that
has the responsibility to
package and distribute
the product in Scotland.
Each school shares their
electronic designs for
advice and input.
A math class at a third
school performs
economic order
modeling over the
planning horizon of the
product, as identified in
the business plan, to
ensure the cost efficient
process for ordering
production material.
Another school takes the
electronic plans and
manufactures a
prototype of the solar
panel. These students
communicate with the
school responsible for
packaging and
distribution, as final
measurements and
weight are needed.
Finally, the Logistics and
Distribution school,
working collaboratively
with the Scotland school
to determine how and
where to distribute the
product, takes the
prototype and prepares
it for final distribution.
