In addition, this conference offers a cutting-edge scientific program that highlights a variety of disciplines and topics ranging from procedural sedation, brain/spine/mind emergencies, pediatric emergencies, as well as risk management.

Physicians, nurses, and the entire emergency medicine community are invited to join us for our 3rd annual Emergency Medicine Without Borders conference!

Learning ObjectivesUpon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

Pre-Conference WorkshopsWEdnEsday, May 27, 2009The workshops below are optional activities requiring an additional registration fee. The workshops will be held in the Seattle World Trade Center, directly across the skybridge from Bell Harbor International Conference Center.

n Ultrasound Hands-on Vascular Access10:00 am to 1:00 pm

This workshop is designed for all practitioners responsible for vascular access. It will teach you how to utilize bedside ultrasonography to improve your success rates and improve patient care when placing both central and peripheral lines. The faculty will cover the basics of ultrasound line placement and then spend a great deal of time in lab practicing lines in phantoms. Models are also used to practice, review and identify the anatomy and landmarks. At the conclusion of this workshop you will be able to apply ultrasound vascular access knowledge with confidence in the performance of vascular access procedures.

n Tips and Tools for the Difficult Airway Workshop2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

This workshop is designed for all practitioners responsible for airway management. Participants will be able to apply the latest clinical skills necessary to approach the difficult airway. The faculty will cover the role of rescue techniques and devices in the management of the difficult airway. Intubating mannequins and rescue devices will be used in the lab to master the skill of the difficult airway.
