Three Josina Lott Board Members were honored at the 2017 Annual Board Meeting in January for completing their tenure as members of the board. Their respective counsel, expertise, and presence will surely be missed while their devoted years of service to the residents and staff of Josina Lott Residential & Community Services will long be remembered.
Pictured from left to right are: Sister Barbara Vano of Lourdes University, Mr. Zachary Norman of Robert M. Norman Associates, Josina Lott Board President Mr. Jonathan Ashton of Gal-lon, Takacs, Boissoneault & Schaffer (sitting Board President), and Mr. Terry Gomoll of Fifth Third Securities, Inc.
All of these community professionals share our vision and passion for serving individuals with developmental dis-abilities here and in the community.
To Sister Vano, Mr. Norman, and Mr. Gomoll: on behalf of the entire Board, the individuals we serve together, and our staff, thank you for your dedication and commitment. Your stewardship of the goals and values of Josina Lott has been characterized by innovative ideas, strategic leadership, and by your tireless support for the health, safety, and enrichment of the residents who call Josina Lott home.
And we are pleased to announce that our treasured relationship with Lourdes University will continue with the appointment of Angela Gorny, Assistant Director of Career Services at Lourdes, to the Josina Lott Board of Directors.
As we move forward into the ever-changing landscape of the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, we are blessed to retain such a dedicated and talented pool of Directors to share in our mission of service.

Our Volunteers in the Spotlight... Thank YOU for Supporting Residents of Josina Lott!Upholding Principles of Fiscal Responsibility

Enriching the human spirit through integration and inclusive programming...
Community Inclusion HighlightsAs we reported last year at this time, the Ohio Department of Develop-mental Disabilities moved forward with reductions in Medicaid funding of Intermediate Care Facilities like Josina Lott. The decrease follows major budget investments to the home and communi-ty-based services waiver program. We anticipated this decrease in funding and took appropriate steps to ensure we will continue to provide the highest quality of care in support of those we serve.
Total revenue for 2016 was down by less than 1% compared to last year while ex-penses rose 8% to leave us slightly over budget for the year.
It’s a testament to the importance of community support. Not every expense we incur in the course of care for the individuals we serve is reimbursed by Medicaid. But for the comfort, health, and safety of our residents, we are mission bound to provide our residents the most comprehensive attention and support. Very often, it is your finan-cial support that bridges the gap for us fiscally.
A visual snapshot of revenue and ex-penses for 2016 appears above. Rev-enue for 2016 was comprised primarily of Medicaid (87.6%), waiver billings (8.4%) the Manahan Fund (3.1%) and the Josina Lott Foundation. Expenses for 2016 were mainly attributed to pro-gramming expenses (76.20%) and man-agement/general expenses (23.77%).
The good news is Josina Lott at River Crossings continues to grow (nearly 40% last year!) as we provide quality

day habilitation services to individu-als here, and ever more increasingly, to those that live in the community.
With an eye on the future and the state’s continued investment in home and community-based waiver services, we are exploring an expansion of River Crossings so that we can continue our growth and increase the services we provide to the individuals in our com-munity who need them most.
This past year was full of exciting activities and events in sup-port of our mission of community integration and inclusion for the individuals we serve.
Our success would not have been possible without volunteer support by the student groups and local businesses who share our passion of enriching the lives of individuals with develop-mental disabilities.
We were blessed for the support of volunteer students from the University of Toledo, Mercy College of Ohio, St. John’s Jesuit, and so many more. Student groups also provided support including those from Toledo School for the Arts, Lourdes University, Toledo Christian, St. Ursula Academy, our Toledo ZOOTeens, and more. Employees from local businesses such as Dana Corporation and The Image Group also volunteered a full ‘Day of Caring’ with us.
It’s not just the 33 residents who call Josina Lott home that have benefitted from your selfless service and support this year but to all of the individuals for whom we provide ser-vices locally.
Essential to this year’s success, YOU. Thank you. Together, we will continue to enrich the lives of individuals with de-velopmental disabilities in ways that are both profound and enduring.
There’s so much more to be excited about looking forward into 2017. Our Jog & Jaunt 5K fundraiser in May, planting

Cheers to the local community and to another amazing year of service, enrichment, and inclusion.
Life is good! Students from Toledo Christian Schools play Uno
with residents and clients at River Crossings.
Josina Lott would like to express our sincere appreciation to students and staff from Toledo Christian Schools for sharing their time and considerable talents to enrich the lives of individu-als with disabilities in a day of caring at River Crossings on Thursday March 16.
Students played games, joined in arts and craft projects, and had lunch with the individuals at River Crossings in a day full of activities and fellowship. We sincerely hope the students enjoyed their time as much as our residents enjoyed having them!
Toledo Christian volunteered at River Crossings as part of the TCares Com-munity Outreach Program; a program
A Day of Caring with Toledo Christian Schools
that challenges students to love and serve others through active community service in local and international com-munities.
A special thanks to our staff at River Crossings including Katie for coor-dinating the event and to Beth, Dan, Chelsea, and Courtney for hosting the visit! And thank you to the students as well as TCares Advisor Andrea Kanfeld for sharing our mission and including us in their special day of service in the community!
