A Story About Forgiveness

One of the sons asked his Father to give him his share of the inheritance money that he was going to get when his Father died.

A man had two sons.

His father gave him the money he asked for.

A few days later, the son took the money and went to a distant country.

The son foolishly wasted all his money foolishly and wound up getting into trouble.

----

After a while the son realized that he had spent all his money.

! ! !!It is all gone!

Oh no...How am I going to buy food? Where

will I live?What am I going to

do now?

The son had to take a job feeding pigs. He was so poor and hungry that he wanted to eat the pigs food! He lived with the pigs because he had nowhere else to stay. He even began to smell like the pigs!He thought about the men that worked for his Father. They had more than enough to eat. He decided to go back to his Father and say to him “Dad, I’m sorry for the way I have behaved. Please hire me so I can work for you.”

Even when the son was still a long way from the house, his Father saw him and ran as fast as he could to meet his son.

He was very happy to see that his son had come home.

He told his servant to bring the finest clothes, shoes and a special ring for his son to wear. He also told him to make preparations for a huge party to celebrate his sons return.

The Father threw his arms around his son and hugged him, kissing him repeatedly.

The brother of the son was jealous, but the father said to the jealous brother, “You should be happy. He was lost and has been found!”

• God is like a loving parent who always forgives us.

• We can always ask for forgiveness.

• We should say “I am sorry”.
