Driving a tractor is certainly more than just sittingin it and driving away. You know that most of all.There are different conditions to consider for everyoperation you carry out with your tractor. That isthe reason why you should evaluate an operatingconcept based on specific operations. This was thepractical background which was the basis for thedevelopment of the Vario operating concept withthe Tractor Management System VarioTMS. Compared to operating concepts on other tractorswith stepless transmission, the Tractor Manage-ment System VarioTMS Vario TMS from Fendt pro-vides very convincing concrete benefits. Driving with the joystickThe ingenious control which allows you can carry out all functionsusing only your right hand, without having to change grips.You can accelerate, decelerate and reverse as well as activate theTempomat with only a small movement of the joystick. You can oper-ate all other functions, from the easy-to-use PTO automatic mode tothe headland management system, with the ergonomically friendlymulti-function buttons.
TRACTOR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
When the TMS (Tractor Management System) is activated, the tractorelectronics control the engine and transmission. This significantlyincreases operating comfort for the driver. The driver only needs toset the desired speed; the TMS controls the rest. In the graphic above,one can recognize that the tractor drives on level ground at a reduced
engine speed. On the slope, the load increases, so the TMS increasesthe engine speed. As soon as the load decreases (on level ground ordownhill) the quantity of fuel injected is reduced. This maintains aneconomical driving style since TMS drives the tractor at the lowestengine speed possible.

NEW: The switch on the steering column adjustmentlever has three functions: 1. Changing directions while driving. 2. Setting travel direction in the
driving pedal mode. 3. Stop and go function with active
parking function:If the switch is pressed whilemoving, the tractor decelerates to astandstill. The tractor only starts todrive again when the switch hasbeen released. This functionprovides even more com-fort for all work whichrequires frequentshort stops.

Driving pedal modeSet the direction you would like to drive with your left hand, then allthat is needed to start the tractor is to press the driving pedal. In thedriving pedal mode, only the right foot is required to drive the tractor– similar to a car with an automatic transmission. The further thepedal is pressed down, the faster the tractor goes. The sliding controlon the armrest sets the maximum speed that is attained when thepedal is pressed all the way down. If you release the pressure on thepedal, the 900 VarioTMS decelerates.
For an additional engine braking effect, the driver can alsotake over control of the TMS in the driving pedal mode andreduce the transmission ratio manually.
VARIO OPERATION –EASY AS EVER
Driving forwardPush the joystick for-ward; the Vario acceleratesforward from standstill.Accelerate forwardNot fast enough? Thenpush the joystick forward abit longer, until you have reached thedesired speed.DecelerateIf you are going too fast, pull the joystickback and the Vario 900 brakes the engine andtransmission.ReversePull the joystick back and the Vario reverses from standstill. Fasteror slower reverse speeds function in the same way as for forwardtravel.Rapid or slow accelerationHow rapidly or slowly you accelerate or decelerate with the transmis-sion is determined by which of the four pre-set acceleration ratesyou select with the thumb control.Automatic forward/reverseGiving the joystick a quick tap to the left is all that is necessary tochange driving direction from forward to reverse or vice versa. TheVario decelerates to a standstill by itself and then accelerates effi-ciently, without jerking, in the opposite direction. Tempomat cruise controlThe Tempomat holds the tractor at a constant pre-set speed. All thatis required to activate it is to give the joystick a quick tap to the right.

No more gear shifting.Unlike pure hydrostatic drives, the Vario drivelets you work with a very high degree of effi-ciency – as high as that of a power shift trans-mission.
