Current Literature Limitations:

•Focus on White Protestantism (Lutherans, Calvinists, Methodists, and Baptists)

•Studies of Black Protestants focus only on: - Pastors and preachers (i.e., fulltime ministers) - Seminarians - Non-Pentecostal/Charismatic denominations (Baptist/AME)

Race: All African-American

Gender: 69% female, 31% male

Age: 28-82, with average of 49 years of age

Education: 5th grade to M.D., with average of 15 years 31% <12th grade 28% some college 41% BA or higher

Number Of Interviews: 92 of 130 ministers (71%)

Denomination: Church of God In Christ
