Attention Year 5 Parents: Selective high schools cater for high achieving academically gifted students who may otherwise be without

sufficient classmates at their own academic and social level. These schools help gifted and talented students to

learn by grouping them with other gifted and talented students, teaching them in specialised ways and providing

educational materials at the appropriate level. Grafton High School is a selective high school.

Applications for selective high school placement are considered mainly on the basis of the Selective High School Placement Test results and school assessment scores.

Applications for Year 7 entry to selective high schools in 2021 must be made online between 8 October 2019 and 11

November 2019. Late applications will not be accepted. Parents must apply online at <https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-

classes/year-7> All applicants are required to sit the Selective High School Placement Test to be held on Thursday 12 March 2020. Detailed instructions on how to apply online are available in the booklet 'Applying for Year 7 entry to selective high schools in 2021' at this link <https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-7> The application website closes on 11 November 2019. You must apply before the closing date. Absolutely no late

applications will be accepted under any circumstances.

There are no paper application forms. If you do not have internet access, you could apply at a public library.

Year 7 Select Class 2021

Our Year 2 students enjoyed their history excursion to Alumny Creek School last week. Many of them were dressed in period costume and enjoyed exploring the old school house and grounds. They sat in the old desks and wrote with quill pens and ink. The students loved the chance to ring the old school bell which parents and grandparents will remember as a very privileged job when they were in school.

Our Kinder Kritters transition program for littlies starting in 2020 has begun and continues every Friday for the next 11 weeks. This week’s session will run from 12 noon till 2.30pm. If you have a little one ready to start Kinder next year, and haven't already done so, please collect an enrolment pack. If you have neighbours, relatives or friends who you know have a pre-schooler ready for Kinder, please let them know that the enrolment packs are now available and encourage them to call in and collect one. Please note that you are only guaranteed enrolment at Grafton Public School if you reside within our catchment “zone”. Out of zone applications are taken but we cannot confirm enrolment until late in the year, so encourage families to enrol their child at their local school as well and also participate in their orientation days.
