• The village name , in Nzemalanguage means “surface water”

• The village is built upon the TadaneLake

• Nzulezo was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site (In January 17, 2000)

HISTORY OF NZULEZO

• People originated from Walata, city inancient Mali empire (15th century)

–rich, blessed lands, minerals, gold

–Harassed by Mendes (Senegal)(jealousy)

• People emigrated southwards, led bytheir snail god to flee from repetitiveattacks

• Settled in various locations : Wenchi,Techiman… then Nzemaland (near thesea)

• Emigrated again along the Amanzuleriver to flee from native Nzema people
