How can you pray for our missionaries?Missions Conference 2015 March 4, 6–8

1 Pray for Open Doors Col. 4:2-3 • Pray that God will lead missionaries through barriers to find

hearts prepared to receive His Word. • Pray that the Lord will open doors for ministry, blessing,

partnership and friendship. • Pray that those who serve will be led by the Holy Spirit and

recognize these opportunities.

2 Pray for Boldness in Witnessing That they would: Eph. 6:19 • Minister effectively in other cultures and languages. • Overcome the opposition of evil forces. • Overcome fear of embarrassment and fear of failure.

3 Pray that the Word of God Will Spread Without Hindrance 2 Thes. 3:1

Obstacles must be removed if the Word of God is to flow freely. Remember that the struggle is against spiritual forces which can attack in any area.

4 Pray for Protection 2 Thes. 3:2 • Pray that God will keep the Christian workers safe from

those who might seek to harm them. • Pray that God will change the hearts of those who are

resistant to His Word. 5 Pray that Their Ministry Will be Accepted by Believers Rom. 15:31 • Pray that the missionary’s ministry and attitudes will be

worthy of acceptance and that fellow colleagues and believers will be supportive.

6 Pray for God’s Guidance and Assistance in Travel Rom. 15:32 • Traveling often involves stressful situations. Pray for the

protection, provision, timing, and permission needed by missionaries as they travel.

7 Pray for Refreshment Rom. 15:32 • Pray that missionaries will seek and receive refreshment from

the Holy Spirit. • Pray that they will be discipled in and rewarded through the

study of God’s Word and through faithful prayer. • Pray that they will experience rich, spiritual fellowship with

other believers.

Alex and Jamie joined World Witness as cooperatives in 2006. Originally in Jerusalem, Israel with a medical ministry, Shevet Achim, they had to leave due to visa problems. The Pettetts joined the World Witness Turkey field in 2011 and moved to Mardin, Turkey to church plant. They moved to Izmir, Turkey after a year in language study to join the Yeni Doğuğ Kilisesi (New Birth Church). At the church the Pettetts mentored Turkish leadership, disciple new Believers and head an international refugee initiative focused on aiding Syrian Refugees living in Turkey. Most recently, Alex has been called to be the new Executive Director for World Witness. Alex and Jamie have three children: Abigail, Elisa, and Josiah.

Mark presently serves as RUF campus minister at Winthrop University. Originally from Columbus, Ohio Mark studied Communications at Virginia Tech and led Young Life. Mark resided two years in Asia with Young Life International, teaching English and sharing the Gospel. Mark moved to Charlotte where he received a Masters of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in May 2013. Soon after, Mark accepted a call as Assistant Pastor at Bethel Church in Clover, SC and was ordained in November 2013. Mark met his wife Katherine in college; she holds a Masters in Biblical Studies from RTS Charlotte. The Ashbaughs have three children: Julia, John and and Emmett.

Jesse Wesselink, a former elder at Ebenezer ARP, was commissioned by the ARP Church in 2005 to serve as the local director for International Students, Inc (ISI) in Greensboro, NC. For the last 10 years, the Wesselinks and their Greensboro ISI team have been sharing Christ’s love and Good News with hundreds of international university students through friendship, hospitality, and discipleship —while leading and training other Greensboro area believers to do the same. Jesse’s own relationships and discipleship with students have developed primarily among Muslim students of various nationalities. Jesse received formal training in Bible and pastoral ministry from Cedarville University, and more recently entered the nursing profession as an RN.

Nathan is the General Manager of an international manufacturer and an elder at the Two Rivers Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Charleston, SC. Ashley serves in the discipleship of young women and homeschools their children. They have three children, Sarah Elizabeth, Knox and Mary Haddon. The Olson family has had the pleasure of serving in church plants since 2001. Leadership opportunities in these church plants include serving on the session, along with men’s, women’s and children’s ministries. They feel called to put these talents to work fulltime at Grace Church Leith Scotland which is less than 3 years old.

Mike Jones is the new Director for Outreach North America and was previously serving in the Florida Presbytery for almost 15 years while planting and pastoring Hope ARP in Tampa. Mike was ordained to gospel ministry by Catawba Presbytery in 1991, after finishing his Ministry of Divinity at Erskine. Mike accepted a call to the Presbyterian Campus Ministry at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. He also served as the Pastor of Worship and Arts at Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Memphis. Mike has been married to Gina for 27 years and they have three children. Roman and Christian are freshmen in high school and Anna Grace is a third grader. Mike is also a professional musician, and uses his music in church planting, outreach and leading worship.
