Thisexperimentwasforword‘Photogram’.ItookwoodenlettersIhad,madewordsoutofthemandthensprayedsilverandorangecolorsonthem.Itriedtorepeatthetechnologyofphotogramprocess.

Formyword‘Accents’Ihadaconcepttoshowmusicalaccentsasahumanjump.However,Ifoundtheconnec-tionbetweenMorzecodeandmusicalaccents.Iwasthinkingaboutatypographicposterinwhichwords‘staccato’and‘legato’willbewrittenwithMorzecode.

Word‘Calligraphic’mademethinkaboutthetraditionalMedicalBadWriting.So,IdecidedtocreatenumberofinvitationsforTheRoyalSo-cietyofMedicineAwards2012writteninbadwritingwithanexplanationunderneath(forpeoplewhocannotunderstandit).

WeallseenthosephotosintheInternet,wherefriendsalwaysjeersattheirdrunkfriends.So,Ialsofoundthatkindofjokeswithpeoplewhofellasleeponthebeach.Safetyinstructionforpeoplewithexplanationwhytheyshouldnotfallasleeponthebeach.Otherwise,theycanfind‘funny’photogramonthem.

Thisideacamefromexperimentsonword‘Tesseletion’andIchangedmywordfor‘Reduction’.Ibought3artsmagazines-ComputerArts,WalpaperandWeirdanddecidedtocutoffabsolutelyalltextofthem.Tohow‘visual’magazinesworkswithouttext.

Thisthingabsolutelystolenmymind.Scanimation.Visualillusionthatisquitedifficulttodo,andthereasonforthatisthatthereareabsolutelynotutorialsonline.Iamgoingtouseitforword‘Cut-Outs”.

Techniqueofscanimationisreallylookslikecuttingoutuselesspiecesoutoftheimage.Youshouldconstrainproportionsof3mminblackstripesandthenmoveitto2mmtocutoffpieceofimagetoproduce‘visualmovement’.

Layerbylayer,youshouldcutoffeverymovementyou’vecreated,then,youprintout‘cutoff’pieceofimageandthenprintthinblackstripesontheacetatepaper.

Whenyoumovetheacetatepaperaroundtheimageyoucanseecrazymovingillusion.Itisverydifficulttodo,butitisveryexcitingtowatchtheresult!

Icutoffabsolutelyalltextinthemagazines.AndtriedtocapturetheinterestinggridsthatIgot.Itrieddifferentwaysofdoingit.First,Istuckthepieceofredtransparentpapertothelamp,layeredmypagesoveritandphotographedit.ButIdidn’tlikeit.SoIwentfurther.

Iputmymagazinetothelightboxandphotographeditagain.Then,aftertutorialwithindustrypartner,I’vebeensuggestedmakinga‘perspectiveview’onthosegrids.SoIdecidedtocutoffcartonboxes,puttheminarowandphotographthem.

ButIdidn’tlikeitaswell.IhadtutorialwithmytutorandheaskedmetoshowhimallthephotosIhad.Hepointedononeofthemandsuggestedmetryingtodosomethinglikethisanditwilllooklikeaproperphotoartwork.

Icheckedloadsofchildrenbooks,anddecidedthatitisgoingtobeveryuseful.IBookisactuallyforchildrenandparentsbecauseofhealthandsafetyissues.Butitisquiteinteractive,assoonasitlookschildish,andtherecipeisveryeasy.
