This is the 14th year where culture resorts to thebeautiful island of Symi. This time, the festivalbrings the message of Solidarity.

The Municipality and the promoters remind us ofthe values that should dominate in our hearts in thedifficult times in which we are living. An alreadyrenowned cultural event is turning into an action ofsocial intervention.

Art has always been awakening human conscienceand enabling a closer and more careful look tothose people who are facing the cruel side of life.

This year's summer festival is inspired by anddedicated to philanthropy and social solidarity.Nowadays, volunteerism has become moreimportant than ever, due to the multitude ofdifficulties that people have to face. The powersof nature and financial factors have «conspired»,creating many susceptible groups of people withspecial needs. These groups deposit their hopes fora decent future in the hands of people who havebeen more fortunate in their lives.

This is the time where the steady support of allthese groups is necessary and compulsory in orderto hand down a world with a human profile andsensitivity to the future generations.

According to figures, most of the people in ourplanet live in poverty and are submitted to theindifference and the exploitation by the few andthe powerful. The only power that can reverse thisdestructive course is the unconditional love towardsour fellow humans.
