Raag Goojaree, Fourth Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਤਪੁਰਖਾ ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰਉ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ (10)

हरि के जन सतिगुर सतपुरखा बिनउ करउ गुर पासि ॥

har kay jan satgur satpurkhaa bina-o kara-o gur paas.

O humble servant of the Lord, O True Guru, O True Primal Being: I offer my humble prayer to You, O Guru.

ਹਮ ਕੀਰੇ ਕਿਰਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੧॥ (10)

हम कीरे किरम सतिगुर सरणाई करि दइआ नामु परगासि ॥१॥

ham keeray kiram satgur sarnaa-ee kar da-i-aa naam pargaas. ||1||

I am a mere insect, a worm. O True Guru, I seek Your Sanctuary. Please be merciful, and bless me with the Light of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥ (10)

मेरे मीत गुरदेव मो कउ राम नामु परगासि ॥

mayray meet gurdayv mo ka-o raam naam pargaas.

O my Best Friend, O Divine Guru, please enlighten me with the Name of the Lord.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸਖਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹਮਰੀ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ (10)

गुरमति नामु मेरा प्रान सखाई हरि कीरति हमरी रहरासि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

gurmat naam mayraa paraan sakhaa-ee har keerat hamree rahraas. ||1|| rahaa-o.

Through the Guru's Teachings, the Naam is my breath of life. The Kirtan of the Lord's Praise is my life's occupation. ||1||Pause||

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਵਡ ਭਾਗ ਵਡੇਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਸ ॥ (10)

हरि जन के वड भाग वडेरे जिन हरि हरि सरधा हरि पिआस ॥

har jan kay vad bhaag vadayray jin har har sarDhaa har pi-aas.

The servants of the Lord have the greatest good fortune; they have faith in the Lord, and a longing for the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੨॥ (10)

हरि हरि नामु मिलै त्रिपतासहि मिलि संगति गुण परगासि ॥२॥

har har naam milai tariptaasahi mil sangat gun pargaas. ||2||

Obtaining the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, they are satisfied; joining the Sangat, the Blessed Congregation, their virtues shine forth. ||2||

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਜਮ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ (10)

जिन हरि हरि हरि रसु नामु न पाइआ ते भागहीण जम पासि ॥

jin har har har ras naam na paa-i-aa tay bhaagheen jam paas.

Those who have not obtained the Sublime Essence of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, are most unfortunate; they are led away by the Messenger of Death.

ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਏ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵੇ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਾਸਿ ॥੩॥ (10)

जो सतिगुर सरणि संगति नही आए ध्रिगु जीवे ध्रिगु जीवासि ॥३॥

jo satgur saran sangat nahee aa-ay Dharig jeevay Dharig jeevaas. ||3||

Those who have not sought the Sanctuary of the True Guru and the Sangat, the Holy Congregation; cursed are their lives, and cursed are their hopes of life. ||3||

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਤਿਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲਿਖਾਸਿ ॥ (10)

जिन हरि जन सतिगुर संगति पाई तिन धुरि मसतकि लिखिआ लिखासि ॥

jin har jan satgur sangat paa-ee tin Dhur mastak likhi-aa likhaas.

Those humble servants of the Lord who have attained the Company of the True Guru, have such pre-ordained destiny inscribed on their foreheads.

ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੪॥ (10)

धनु धंनु सतसंगति जितु हरि रसु पाइआ मिलि जन नानक नामु परगासि ॥४॥४॥

Dhan Dhan satsangat jit har ras paa-i-aa mil jan naanak naam pargaas. ||4||4||

Blessed, blessed is the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, where the Lord's Essence is obtained. Meeting with His humble servant, O Nanak, the Light of the Naam shines forth. ||4||4||

ਰਾਗੁ ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ (10)

रागु आसा महला ४ सो पुरखु

Raag Aasaa, Fourth Mehl, So Purakh ~ That Primal Being:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ (10)

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

ik-oNkaar satgur parsaad.

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ (10)

सो पुरखु निरंजनु हरि पुरखु निरंजनु हरि अगमा अगम अपारा ॥

so purakh niranjan har purakh niranjan har agmaa agam apaaraa.

That Primal Being is Immaculate and Pure. The Lord, the Primal Being, is Immaculate and Pure. The Lord is Inaccessible, Unreachable and Unrivalled.

ਸਭਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ (10)

सभि धिआवहि सभि धिआवहि तुधु जी हरि सचे सिरजणहारा ॥

sabh Dhi-aavahi sabh Dhi-aavahi tuDh jee har sachay sirjanhaaraa.

All meditate, all meditate on You, Dear Lord, O True Creator Lord.

ਸਭਿ ਜੀਅ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਜੀ ਤੂੰ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ ॥ (10)

सभि जीअ तुमारे जी तूं जीआ का दातारा ॥

sabh jee-a tumaaray jee tooN jee-aa kaa daataaraa.

All living beings are Yours-You are the Giver of all souls.

ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜੀ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਖ ਵਿਸਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ (10)

हरि धिआवहु संतहु जी सभि दूख विसारणहारा ॥

har Dhi-aavahu santahu jee sabh dookh visaaranhaaraa.

Meditate on the Lord, O Saints; He is the Dispeller of all sorrow.

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜੀ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ (10)

हरि आपे ठाकुरु हरि आपे सेवकु जी किआ नानक जंत विचारा ॥१॥

har aapay thaakur har aapay sayvak jee ki-aa naanak jant vichaaraa. ||1||

The Lord Himself is the Master, the Lord Himself is the Servant. O Nanak, the poor beings are wretched and miserable! ||1||

ਤੂੰ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥ (11)

तूं घट घट अंतरि सरब निरंतरि जी हरि एको पुरखु समाणा ॥

tooN ghat ghat antar sarab nirantar jee har ayko purakh samaanaa.

You are constant in each and every heart, and in all things. O Dear Lord, you are the One.

ਇਕਿ ਦਾਤੇ ਇਕਿ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਜੀ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਣਾ ॥ (11)

इकि दाते इकि भेखारी जी सभि तेरे चोज विडाणा ॥

ik daatay ik bhaykhaaree jee sabh tayray choj vidaanaa.

Some are givers, and some are beggars. This is all Your Wondrous Play.

ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਜੀ ਹਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ॥ (11)

तूं आपे दाता आपे भुगता जी हउ तुधु बिनु अवरु न जाणा ॥

tooN aapay daataa aapay bhugtaa jee ha-o tuDh bin avar na jaanaa.

You Yourself are the Giver, and You Yourself are the Enjoyer. I know no other than You.

ਤੂੰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਜੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣਾ ॥ (11)

तूं पारब्रहमु बेअंतु बेअंतु जी तेरे किआ गुण आखि वखाणा ॥

tooN paarbarahm bay-ant bay-ant jee tayray ki-aa gun aakh vakhaanaa.

You are the Supreme Lord God, Limitless and Infinite. What Virtues of Yours can I speak of and describe?

ਜੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਜੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਣਾ ॥੨॥ (11)

जो सेवहि जो सेवहि तुधु जी जनु नानकु तिन कुरबाणा ॥२॥

jo sayveh jo sayveh tuDh jee jan naanak tin kurbaanaa. ||2||

Unto those who serve You, unto those who serve You, Dear Lord, servant Nanak is a sacrifice. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਸੁਖਵਾਸੀ ॥ (11)

हरि धिआवहि हरि धिआवहि तुधु जी से जन जुग महि सुखवासी ॥

har Dhi-aavahi har Dhi-aavahi tuDh jee say jan jug meh sukhvaasee.

Those who meditate on You, Lord, those who meditate on You-those humble beings dwell in peace in this world.

ਸੇ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਸੇ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਭਏ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜੀ ਤਿਨ ਤੂਟੀ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸੀ ॥ (11)

से मुकतु से मुकतु भए जिन हरि धिआइआ जी तिन तूटी जम की फासी ॥

say mukat say mukat bha-ay jin har Dhi-aa-i-aa jee tin tootee jam kee faasee.

They are liberated, they are liberated-those who meditate on the Lord. For them, the noose of death is cut away.

ਜਿਨ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜੀ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਸਭੁ ਗਵਾਸੀ ॥ (11)

जिन निरभउ जिन हरि निरभउ धिआइआ जी तिन का भउ सभु गवासी ॥

jin nirbha-o jin har nirbha-o Dhi-aa-i-aa jee tin kaa bha-o sabh gavaasee.

Those who meditate on the Fearless One, on the Fearless Lord-all their fears are dispelled.

ਜਿਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪਿ ਸਮਾਸੀ ॥ (11)

जिन सेविआ जिन सेविआ मेरा हरि जी ते हरि हरि रूपि समासी ॥

jin sayvi-aa jin sayvi-aa mayraa har jee tay har har roop samaasee.

Those who serve, those who serve my Dear Lord, are absorbed into the Being of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਸੇ ਧੰਨੁ ਸੇ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜੀ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਸੀ ॥੩॥ (11)

से धंनु से धंनु जिन हरि धिआइआ जी जनु नानकु तिन बलि जासी ॥३॥

say Dhan say Dhan jin har Dhi-aa-i-aa jee jan naanak tin bal jaasee. ||3||

Blessed are they, blessed are they, who meditate on their Dear Lord. Servant Nanak is a sacrifice to them. ||3||

ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਜੀ ਭਰੇ ਬਿਅੰਤ ਬੇਅੰਤਾ ॥ (11)

तेरी भगति तेरी भगति भंडार जी भरे बिअंत बेअंता ॥

tayree bhagat tayree bhagat bhandaar jee bharay bi-ant bay-antaa.

Devotion to You, devotion to You, is a treasure overflowing, infinite and beyond measure.

ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਨੰਤਾ ॥ (11)

तेरे भगत तेरे भगत सलाहनि तुधु जी हरि अनिक अनेक अनंता ॥

tayray bhagat tayray bhagat salaahan tuDh jee har anik anayk anantaa.

Your devotees, Your devotees praise You, Dear Lord, in many and various and countless ways.

ਤੇਰੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਜੀ ਤਪੁ ਤਾਪਹਿ ਜਪਹਿ ਬੇਅੰਤਾ ॥ (11)

तेरी अनिक तेरी अनिक करहि हरि पूजा जी तपु तापहि जपहि बेअंता ॥

tayree anik tayree anik karahi har poojaa jee tap taapeh jaapeh bay-antaa.

For You, many, for You, so very many perform worship services, O Dear Infinite Lord; they practice disciplined meditation and chant endlessly.

ਤੇਰੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਪੜਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਜੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੰਤਾ ॥ (11)

तेरे अनेक तेरे अनेक पड़हि बहु सिम्रिति सासत जी करि किरिआ खटु करम करंता ॥

tayray anayk tayray anayk parheh baho simrit saasat jee kar kiri-aa khat karam karantaa.

For You, many, for You, so very many read the various Simritees and Shaastras. They perform rituals and religious rites.

ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਭਲੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਜੋ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥੪॥ (11)

से भगत से भगत भले जन नानक जी जो भावहि मेरे हरि भगवंता ॥४॥

say bhagat say bhagat bhalay jan naanak jee jo bhaaveh mayray har bhagvantaa. ||4||

Those devotees, those devotees are sublime, O servant Nanak, who are pleasing to my Dear Lord God. ||4||

ਤੂੰ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਜੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ (11)

तूं आदि पुरखु अपर्मपरु करता जी तुधु जेवडु अवरु न कोई ॥

tooN aad purakh aprampar kartaa jee tuDh jayvad avar na ko-ee.

You are the Primal Being, the Most Wonderful Creator. There is no other as Great as You.

ਤੂੰ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਏਕੋ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਏਕੋ ਜੀ ਤੂੰ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਈ ॥ (11)

तूं जुगु जुगु एको सदा सदा तूं एको जी तूं निहचलु करता सोई ॥

tooN jug jug ayko sadaa sadaa tooN ayko jee tooN nihchal kartaa so-ee.

Age after age, You are the One. Forever and ever, You are the One. You never change, O Creator Lord.

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਵਰਤੈ ਜੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ (11)

तुधु आपे भावै सोई वरतै जी तूं आपे करहि सु होई ॥

tuDh aapay bhaavai so-ee vartai jee tooN aapay karahi so ho-ee.

Everything happens according to Your Will. You Yourself accomplish all that occurs.

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਉਪਾਈ ਜੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਸਿਰਜਿ ਸਭ ਗੋਈ ॥ (11)

तुधु आपे स्रिसटि सभ उपाई जी तुधु आपे सिरजि सभ गोई ॥

tuDh aapay sarisat sabh upaa-ee jee tuDh aapay siraj sabh go-ee.

You Yourself created the entire universe, and having fashioned it, You Yourself shall destroy it all.

ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੇ ਜੀ ਜੋ ਸਭਸੈ ਕਾ ਜਾਣੋਈ ॥੫॥੧॥ (11)

जनु नानकु गुण गावै करते के जी जो सभसै का जाणोई ॥५॥१॥

jan naanak gun gaavai kartay kay jee jo sabhsai kaa jaano-ee. ||5||1||

Servant Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Dear Creator, the Knower of all. ||5||1||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥ (11)

आसा महला ४ ॥

aasaa mehlaa 4.

Aasaa, Fourth Mehl:

ਤੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ਮੈਡਾ ਸਾਂਈ ॥ (11)

तूं करता सचिआरु मैडा सांई ॥

tooN kartaa sachiaar maidaa saaN-ee.

You are the True Creator, my Lord and Master.

ਜੋ ਤਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਥੀਸੀ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਹਉ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ (11)

जो तउ भावै सोई थीसी जो तूं देहि सोई हउ पाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

jo ta-o bhaavai so-ee theesee jo tooN deh so-ee ha-o paa-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.

Whatever pleases You comes to pass. As You give, so do we receive. ||1||Pause||

ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਭਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ (11)

सभ तेरी तूं सभनी धिआइआ ॥

sabh tayree tooN sabhnee Dhi-aa-i-aa.

All belong to You, all meditate on you.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ (11)

जिस नो क्रिपा करहि तिनि नाम रतनु पाइआ ॥

jis no kirpaa karahi tin naam ratan paa-i-aa.

Those who are blessed with Your Mercy obtain the Jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਧਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ (11)

गुरमुखि लाधा मनमुखि गवाइआ ॥

gurmukh laaDhaa manmukh gavaa-i-aa.

The Gurmukhs obtain it, and the self-willed manmukhs lose it.

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ (11)

तुधु आपि विछोड़िआ आपि मिलाइआ ॥१॥

tuDh aap vichhorhi-aa aap milaa-i-aa. ||1||

You Yourself separate them from Yourself, and You Yourself reunite with them again. ||1||

ਤੂੰ ਦਰੀਆਉ ਸਭ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ (11)

तूं दरीआउ सभ तुझ ही माहि ॥

tooN daree-aa-o sabh tujh hee maahi.

You are the River of Life; all are within You.

ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ (11)

तुझ बिनु दूजा कोई नाहि ॥

tujh bin doojaa ko-ee naahi.

There is no one except You.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਖੇਲੁ ॥ (11)

जीअ जंत सभि तेरा खेलु ॥

jee-a jant sabh tayraa khayl.

All living beings are Your playthings.

ਵਿਜੋਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਮੇਲੁ ॥੨॥ (11)

विजोगि मिलि विछुड़िआ संजोगी मेलु ॥२॥

vijog mil vichhurhi-aa sanjogee mayl. ||2||

The separated ones meet, and by great good fortune, those suffering in separation are reunited once again. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਜਾਣਾਇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ (11)

जिस नो तू जाणाइहि सोई जनु जाणै ॥

jis no too jaanaa-ihi so-ee jan jaanai.

They alone understand, whom You inspire to understand;

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥ (11)

हरि गुण सद ही आखि वखाणै ॥

har gun sad hee aakh vakhaanai.

they continually chant and repeat the Lord's Praises.

ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ (11)

जिनि हरि सेविआ तिनि सुखु पाइआ ॥

jin har sayvi-aa tin sukh paa-i-aa.

Those who serve You find peace.

ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ (11)

सहजे ही हरि नामि समाइआ ॥३॥

sehjay hee har naam samaa-i-aa. ||3||

They are intuitively absorbed into the Lord's Name. ||3||

ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ (12)

तू आपे करता तेरा कीआ सभु होइ ॥

too aapay kartaa tayraa kee-aa sabh ho-ay.

You Yourself are the Creator. Everything that happens is by Your Doing.

ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ (12)

तुधु बिनु दूजा अवरु न कोइ ॥

tuDh bin doojaa avar na ko-ay.

There is no one except You.

ਤੂ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸੋਇ ॥ (12)

तू करि करि वेखहि जाणहि सोइ ॥

too kar kar vaykheh jaaneh so-ay.

You created the creation; You behold it and understand it.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨॥ (12)

जन नानक गुरमुखि परगटु होइ ॥४॥२॥

jan naanak gurmukh pargat ho-ay. ||4||2||

O servant Nanak, the Lord is revealed through the Gurmukh, the Living Expression of the Guru's Word. ||4||2||

रागु गउड़ी पूरबी महला ४ ॥

ਕਾਮਿ ਕਰੋਧਿ ਨਗਰੁ ਬਹੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਖੰਡਲ ਖੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥ (13)

कामि करोधि नगरु बहु भरिआ मिलि साधू खंडल खंडा हे ॥

kaam karoDh nagar baho bhari-aa mil saaDhoo khandal khanda hay.

The body-village is filled to overflowing with anger and sexual desire; these were broken into bits when I met with the Holy Saint.

ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਮੰਡਲ ਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ (13)

पूरबि लिखत लिखे गुरु पाइआ मनि हरि लिव मंडल मंडा हे ॥१॥

poorab likhat likhay gur paa-i-aa man har liv mandal mandaa hay. ||1||

By pre-ordained destiny, I have met with the Guru. I have entered into the realm of the Lord's Love. ||1||

ਕਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਅੰਜੁਲੀ ਪੁਨੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥ (13)

करि साधू अंजुली पुनु वडा हे ॥

kar saaDhoo anjulee pun vadaa hay.

Greet the Holy Saint with your palms pressed together; this is an act of great merit.

ਕਰਿ ਡੰਡਉਤ ਪੁਨੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ (13)

करि डंडउत पुनु वडा हे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

kar dand-ut pun vadaa hay. ||1|| rahaa-o.

Bow down before Him; this is a virtuous action indeed. ||1||Pause||

ਸਾਕਤ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਕੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥ (13)

साकत हरि रस सादु न जाणिआ तिन अंतरि हउमै कंडा हे ॥

saakat har ras saad na jaani-aa tin antar ha-umai kandaa hay.

The wicked shaaktas, the faithless cynics, do not know the Taste of the Lord's Sublime Essence. The thorn of egotism is embedded deep within them.

ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਚਲਹਿ ਚੁਭੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਸਹਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਡੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥ (13)

जिउ जिउ चलहि चुभै दुखु पावहि जमकालु सहहि सिरि डंडा हे ॥२॥

ji-o ji-o chaleh chubhai dukh paavahi jamkaal saheh sir dandaa hay. ||2||

The more they walk away, the deeper it pierces them, and the more they suffer in pain, until finally, the Messenger of Death smashes his club against their heads. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥ (13)

हरि जन हरि हरि नामि समाणे दुखु जनम मरण भव खंडा हे ॥

har jan har har naam samaanay dukh janam maran bhav khanda hay.

The humble servants of the Lord are absorbed in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. The pain of birth and the fear of death are eradicated.

ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਬਹੁ ਸੋਭ ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥ (13)

अबिनासी पुरखु पाइआ परमेसरु बहु सोभ खंड ब्रहमंडा हे ॥३॥

abhinaasee purakh paa-i-aa parmaysar baho sobh khand barahmandaa hay. ||3||

They have found the Imperishable Supreme Being, the Transcendent Lord God, and they receive great honor throughout all the worlds and realms. ||3||

ਹਮ ਗਰੀਬ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਵਡ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥ (13)

हम गरीब मसकीन प्रभ तेरे हरि राखु राखु वड वडा हे ॥

ham gareeb maskeen parabh tayray har raakh raakh vad vadaa hay.

I am poor and meek, God, but I belong to You! Save me-please save me, O Greatest of the Great!

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥੪॥ (13)

जन नानक नामु अधारु टेक है हरि नामे ही सुखु मंडा हे ॥४॥४॥

jan naanak naam aDhaar tayk hai har naamay hee sukh mandaa hay. ||4||4||

Servant Nanak takes the Sustenance and Support of the Naam. In the Name of the Lord, he enjoys celestial peace. ||4||4||

ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਘਰੁ ੧ ॥ (39)

ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਅਤਿ ਅਗਲਾ ਕਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਇ ॥ (39)

मै मनि तनि बिरहु अति अगला किउ प्रीतमु मिलै घरि आइ ॥

mai man tan birahu at aglaa ki-o pareetam milai ghar aa-ay.

Within my mind and body is the intense pain of separation; how can my Beloved come to meet me in my home?

ਜਾ ਦੇਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦੇਖਿਐ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ (39)

जा देखा प्रभु आपणा प्रभि देखिऐ दुखु जाइ ॥

jaa daykhaa parabh aapnaa parabh daykhi-ai dukh jaa-ay.

When I see my God, seeing God Himself, my pain is taken away.

ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਾ ਤਿਨ ਸਜਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ (39)

जाइ पुछा तिन सजणा प्रभु कितु बिधि मिलै मिलाइ ॥१॥

jaa-ay puchhaa tin sajnaa parabh kit biDh milai milaa-ay. ||1||

I go and ask my friends, "How can I meet and merge with God?" ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾ ਮੈ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ (39)

मेरे सतिगुरा मै तुझ बिनु अवरु न कोइ ॥

mayray satiguraa mai tujh bin avar na ko-ay.

O my True Guru, without You I have no other at all.

ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ (39)

हम मूरख मुगध सरणागती करि किरपा मेले हरि सोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

ham moorakh mugaDh sarnaagatee kar kirpaa maylay har so-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.

I am foolish and ignorant; I seek Your Sanctuary. Please be Merciful and unite me with the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ (39)

सतिगुरु दाता हरि नाम का प्रभु आपि मिलावै सोइ ॥

satgur daataa har naam kaa parabh aap milaavai so-ay.

The True Guru is the Giver of the Name of the Lord. God Himself causes us to meet Him.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ (39)

सतिगुरि हरि प्रभु बुझिआ गुर जेवडु अवरु न कोइ ॥

satgur har parabh bujhi-aa gur jayvad avar na ko-ay.

The True Guru understands the Lord God. There is no other as Great as the Guru.

ਹਉ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਢਹਿ ਪਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਮੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥ (39)

हउ गुर सरणाई ढहि पवा करि दइआ मेले प्रभु सोइ ॥२॥

ha-o gur sarnaa-ee dheh pavaa kar da-i-aa maylay parabh so-ay. ||2||

I have come and collapsed in the Guru's Sanctuary. In His Kindness, He has united me with God. ||2||

ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਾਵ ਥਕੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ (39)

मनहठि किनै न पाइआ करि उपाव थके सभु कोइ ॥

manhath kinai na paa-i-aa kar upaav thakay sabh ko-ay.

No one has found Him by stubborn-mindedness. All have grown weary of the effort.

ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਰੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ (40)

सहस सिआणप करि रहे मनि कोरै रंगु न होइ ॥

sahas si-aanap kar rahay man korai rang na ho-ay.

Thousands of clever mental tricks have been tried, but still, the raw and undisciplined mind does not absorb the Color of the Lord's Love.

ਕੂੜਿ ਕਪਟਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਜੋ ਬੀਜੈ ਖਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥ (40)

कूड़ि कपटि किनै न पाइओ जो बीजै खावै सोइ ॥३॥

koorh kapat kinai na paa-i-o jo beejai khaavai so-ay. ||3||

By falsehood and deception, none have found Him. Whatever you plant, you shall eat. ||3||

ਸਭਨਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਸਿ ॥ (40)

सभना तेरी आस प्रभु सभ जीअ तेरे तूं रासि ॥

sabhnaa tayree aas parabh sabh jee-a tayray tooN raas.

O God, You are the Hope of all. All beings are Yours; You are the Wealth of all.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਧਹੁ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਦਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥ (40)

प्रभ तुधहु खाली को नही दरि गुरमुखा नो साबासि ॥

parabh tuDhhu khaalee ko nahee dar gurmukhaa no saabaas.

O God, none return from You empty-handed; at Your Door, the Gurmukhs are praised and acclaimed.

ਬਿਖੁ ਭਉਜਲ ਡੁਬਦੇ ਕਢਿ ਲੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੧॥੬੫॥ (40)

बिखु भउजल डुबदे कढि लै जन नानक की अरदासि ॥४॥१॥६५॥

bikh bha-ojal dubday kadh lai jan naanak kee ardaas. ||4||1||65||

In the terrifying world-ocean of poison, people are drowning-please lift them up and save them! This is servant Nanak's humble prayer. ||4||1||65||

ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਾਸੁ ॥ (40)

नामु मिलै मनु त्रिपतीऐ बिनु नामै ध्रिगु जीवासु ॥

naam milai man taripat-ee-ai bin naamai Dharig jeevaas.

Receiving the Naam, the mind is satisfied; without the Naam, life is cursed.

ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੈ ਦਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥ (40)

कोई गुरमुखि सजणु जे मिलै मै दसे प्रभु गुणतासु ॥

ko-ee gurmukh sajan jay milai mai dasay parabh guntaas.

If I meet the Gurmukh, my Spiritual Friend, he will show me God, the Treasure of Excellence.

ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਚਉ ਖੰਨੀਐ ਮੈ ਨਾਮ ਕਰੇ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥ (40)

हउ तिसु विटहु चउ खंनीऐ मै नाम करे परगासु ॥१॥

ha-o tis vitahu cha-o khannee-ai mai naam karay pargaas. ||1||

I am every bit a sacrifice to one who reveals to me the Naam. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾ ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥ (40)

मेरे प्रीतमा हउ जीवा नामु धिआइ ॥

mayray pareetamaa ha-o jeevaa naam Dhi-aa-ay.

O my Beloved, I live by meditating on Your Name.

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਨਾ ਥੀਐ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ (40)

बिनु नावै जीवणु ना थीऐ मेरे सतिगुर नामु द्रिड़ाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

bin naavai jeevan naa thee-ai mayray satgur naam drirh-aa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.

Without Your Name, my life does not even exist. My True Guru has implanted the Naam within me. ||1||Pause||

ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਹੈ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ (40)

नामु अमोलकु रतनु है पूरे सतिगुर पासि ॥

naam amolak ratan hai pooray satgur paas.

The Naam is a Priceless Jewel; it is with the Perfect True Guru.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੈ ਲਗਿਆ ਕਢਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥ (40)

सतिगुर सेवै लगिआ कढि रतनु देवै परगासि ॥

satgur sayvai lagi-aa kadh ratan dayvai pargaas.

When one is enjoined to serve the True Guru, He brings out this Jewel and bestows this enlightenment.

ਧੰਨੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਵਡ ਭਾਗੀਆ ਜੋ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨॥ (40)

धंनु वडभागी वड भागीआ जो आइ मिले गुर पासि ॥२॥

Dhan vadbhaagee vad bhaagee-aa jo aa-ay milay gur paas. ||2||

Blessed, and most fortunate of the very fortunate, are those who come to meet the Guru. ||2||

ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ (40)

जिना सतिगुरु पुरखु न भेटिओ से भागहीण वसि काल ॥

jinaa satgur purakh na bhayti-o say bhaagheen vas kaal.

Those who have not met the Primal Being, the True Guru, are most unfortunate, and are subject to death.

ਓਇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਹਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਕਰਿ ਵਿਕਰਾਲ ॥ (40)

ओइ फिरि फिरि जोनि भवाईअहि विचि विसटा करि विकराल ॥

o-ay fir fir jon bhavaa-ee-ah vich vistaa kar vikraal.

They wander in reincarnation over and over again, as the most disgusting maggots in manure.

ਓਨਾ ਪਾਸਿ ਦੁਆਸਿ ਨ ਭਿਟੀਐ ਜਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਚੰਡਾਲ ॥੩॥ (40)

ओना पासि दुआसि न भिटीऐ जिन अंतरि क्रोधु चंडाल ॥३॥

onaa paas du-aas na bhitee-ai jin antar kroDh chandaal. ||3||

Do not meet with, or even approach those people, whose hearts are filled with horrible anger. ||3||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਵਹਿ ਆਇ ॥ (40)

सतिगुरु पुरखु अम्रित सरु वडभागी नावहि आइ ॥

satgur purakh amrit sar vadbhaagee naaveh aa-ay.

The True Guru, the Primal Being, is the Pool of Ambrosial Nectar. The very fortunate ones come to bathe in it.

ਉਨ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ ॥ (40)

उन जनम जनम की मैलु उतरै निरमल नामु द्रिड़ाइ ॥

un janam janam kee mail utrai nirmal naam drirh-aa-ay.

The filth of many incarnations is washed away, and the Immaculate Naam is implanted within.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੨॥੬੬॥ (40)

जन नानक उतम पदु पाइआ सतिगुर की लिव लाइ ॥४॥२॥६६॥

jan naanak utam pad paa-i-aa satgur kee liv laa-ay. ||4||2||66||

Servant Nanak has obtained the most exalted state, lovingly attuned to the True Guru. ||4||2||66||

गुण गावा गुण विथरा गुण बोली मेरी माइ ॥

gun gaavaa gun vithraa gun bolee mayree maa-ay.

I sing His Glories, I describe His Glories, I speak of His Glories, O my mother.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਜਣ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥ (40)

गुरमुखि सजणु गुणकारीआ मिलि सजण हरि गुण गाइ ॥

gurmukh sajan gunkaaree-aa mil sajan har gun gaa-ay.

The Gurmukhs, my spiritual friends, bestow virtue. Meeting with my spiritual friends, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਹੀਰੈ ਹੀਰੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਨਾਇ ॥੧॥ (40)

हीरै हीरु मिलि बेधिआ रंगि चलूलै नाइ ॥१॥

heerai heer mil bayDhi-aa rang chaloolai naa-ay. ||1||

The Diamond of the Guru has pierced the diamond of my mind, which is now dyed in the deep crimson color of the Name. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ (40)

मेरे गोविंदा गुण गावा त्रिपति मनि होइ ॥

mayray govindaa gun gaavaa taripat man ho-ay.

O my Lord of the Universe, singing Your Glorious Praises, my mind is satisfied.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਿਆਸ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ (40)

अंतरि पिआस हरि नाम की गुरु तुसि मिलावै सोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

antar pi-aas har naam kee gur tus milaavai so-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.

Within me is the thirst for the Lord's Name; may the Guru, in His Pleasure, grant it to me. ||1||Pause||

ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਹੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਹੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਕਰੇ ਪਸਾਉ ॥ (40)

मनु रंगहु वडभागीहो गुरु तुठा करे पसाउ ॥

man rangahu vadbhaageeho gur tuthaa karay pasaa-o.

Let your minds be imbued with His Love, O blessed and fortunate ones. By His Pleasure, the Guru bestows His Gifts.

ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ (40)

गुरु नामु द्रिड़ाए रंग सिउ हउ सतिगुर कै बलि जाउ ॥

gur naam drirh-aa-ay rang si-o ha-o satgur kai bal jaa-o.

The Guru has lovingly implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me; I am a sacrifice to the True Guru.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਲਭਈ ਲਖ ਕੋਟੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਉ ॥੨॥ (40)

बिनु सतिगुर हरि नामु न लभई लख कोटी करम कमाउ ॥२॥

bin satgur har naam na labh-ee lakh kotee karam kamaa-o. ||2||

Without the True Guru, the Name of the Lord is not found, even though people may perform hundreds of thousands, even millions of rituals. ||2||

ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਘਰਿ ਬੈਠਿਆ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨਿਤ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ (40)

बिनु भागा सतिगुरु ना मिलै घरि बैठिआ निकटि नित पासि ॥

bin bhaagaa satgur naa milai ghar baithi-aa nikat nit paas.

Without destiny, the True Guru is not found, even though He sits within the home of our own inner being, always near and close at hand.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਹੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਪੜਦਾ ਦੂਰਿ ਪਈਆਸਿ ॥ (40)

अंतरि अगिआन दुखु भरमु है विचि पड़दा दूरि पईआसि ॥

antar agi-aan dukh bharam hai vich parh-daa door pa-ee-aas.

There is ignorance within, and the pain of doubt, like a separating screen.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਨਾ ਥੀਐ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਲੋਹੁ ਬੂਡਾ ਬੇੜੀ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੩॥ (40)

बिनु सतिगुर भेटे कंचनु ना थीऐ मनमुखु लोहु बूडा बेड़ी पासि ॥३॥

bin satgur bhaytay kanchan naa thee-ai manmukh lohu boodaa bayrhee paas. ||3||

Without meeting with the True Guru, no one is transformed into gold. The self-willed manmukh sinks like iron, while the boat is very close. ||3||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਵ ਹੈ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਚੜਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ (40)

सतिगुरु बोहिथु हरि नाव है कितु बिधि चड़िआ जाइ ॥

satgur bohith har naav hai kit biDh charhi-aa jaa-ay.

The Boat of the True Guru is the Name of the Lord. How can we climb on board?

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਜੋ ਚਲੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਬੈਠਾ ਆਇ ॥ (40)

सतिगुर कै भाणै जो चलै विचि बोहिथ बैठा आइ ॥

satgur kai bhaanai jo chalai vich bohith baithaa aa-ay.

One who walks in harmony with the True Guru's Will comes to sit in this Boat.

ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੬੭॥ (40)

धंनु धंनु वडभागी नानका जिना सतिगुरु लए मिलाइ ॥४॥३॥६७॥

Dhan Dhan vadbhaagee naankaa jinaa satgur la-ay milaa-ay. ||4||3||67||

Blessed, blessed are those very fortunate ones, O Nanak, who are united with the Lord through the True Guru. ||4||3||67||

Siree Raag, Fourth Mehl:

ਹਉ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਸਾਈ ਨਿਤ ਖੜੀ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਸੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ (41)

हउ पंथु दसाई नित खड़ी कोई प्रभु दसे तिनि जाउ ॥

ha-o panth dasaa-ee nit kharhee ko-ee parabh dasay tin jaa-o.

I stand by the wayside and ask the Way. If only someone would show me the Way to God-I would go with him.

ਜਿਨੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੀਛੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਫਿਰਾਉ ॥ (41)

जिनी मेरा पिआरा राविआ तिन पीछै लागि फिराउ ॥

jinee mayraa pi-aaraa raavi-aa tin peechhai laag firaa-o.

I follow in the footsteps of those who enjoy the Love of my Beloved.

ਕਰਿ ਮਿੰਨਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਜੋਦੜੀ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਣੈ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥੧॥ (41)

करि मिंनति करि जोदड़ी मै प्रभु मिलणै का चाउ ॥१॥

kar minat kar jod-rhee mai parabh milnai kaa chaa-o. ||1||

I beg of them, I implore them; I have such a yearning to meet God! ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਜਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ (41)

मेरे भाई जना कोई मो कउ हरि प्रभु मेलि मिलाइ ॥

mayray bhaa-ee janaa ko-ee mo ka-o har parabh mayl milaa-ay.

O my Siblings of Destiny, please unite me in Union with my Lord God.

ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ (41)

हउ सतिगुर विटहु वारिआ जिनि हरि प्रभु दीआ दिखाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

ha-o satgur vitahu vaari-aa jin har parabh dee-aa dikhaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.

I am a sacrifice to the True Guru, who has shown me the Lord God. ||1||Pause||

ਹੋਇ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਢਹਿ ਪਵਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ (41)

होइ निमाणी ढहि पवा पूरे सतिगुर पासि ॥

ho-ay nimaanee dheh pavaa pooray satgur paas.

In deep humility, I fall at the Feet of the Perfect True Guru.

ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥ (41)

निमाणिआ गुरु माणु है गुरु सतिगुरु करे साबासि ॥

nimaani-aa gur maan hai gur satgur karay saabaas.

The Guru is the Honor of the dishonored. The Guru, the True Guru, brings approval and applause.

ਹਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਨ ਰਜਊ ਮੈ ਮੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨॥ (41)

हउ गुरु सालाहि न रजऊ मै मेले हरि प्रभु पासि ॥२॥

ha-o gur saalaahi na raj-oo mai maylay har parabh paas. ||2||

I am never tired of praising the Guru, who unites me with the Lord God. ||2||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਜੇਤਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ (41)

सतिगुर नो सभ को लोचदा जेता जगतु सभु कोइ ॥

satgur no sabh ko lochdaa jaytaa jagat sabh ko-ay.

Everyone, all over the world, longs for the True Guru.

ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾ ਥੀਐ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਬਹਿ ਰੋਇ ॥ (41)

बिनु भागा दरसनु ना थीऐ भागहीण बहि रोइ ॥

bin bhaagaa darsan naa thee-ai bhaagheen bahi ro-ay.

Without the good fortune of destiny, the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is not obtained. The unfortunate ones just sit and cry.

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਾ ਸੋ ਥੀਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੩॥ (41)

जो हरि प्रभ भाणा सो थीआ धुरि लिखिआ न मेटै कोइ ॥३॥

jo har parabh bhaanaa so thee-aa Dhur likhi-aa na maytai ko-ay. ||3||

All things happen according to the Will of the Lord God. No one can erase the pre-ordained Writ of Destiny. ||3||

ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ (41)

आपे सतिगुरु आपि हरि आपे मेलि मिलाइ ॥

aapay satgur aap har aapay mayl milaa-ay.

He Himself is the True Guru; He Himself is the Lord. He Himself unites in His Union.

ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਮੇਲਸੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੀਛੈ ਪਾਇ ॥ (41)

आपि दइआ करि मेलसी गुर सतिगुर पीछै पाइ ॥

aap da-i-aa kar maylsee gur satgur peechhai paa-ay.

In His Kindness, He unites us with Himself, as we follow the Guru, the True Guru.

ਸਭੁ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਜਗਿ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਲੁ ਜਲਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੪॥੬੮॥ (41)

सभु जगजीवनु जगि आपि है नानक जलु जलहि समाइ ॥४॥४॥६८॥

sabh jagjeevan jag aap hai naanak jal jaleh samaa-ay. ||4||4||68||

Over all the world, He is the Life of the World, O Nanak, like water mingled with water. ||4||4||68||

ਰਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸੁ ਅਤਿ ਭਲਾ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਰਸੁ ਖਾਇ ॥ (41)

रसु अम्रितु नामु रसु अति भला कितु बिधि मिलै रसु खाइ ॥

ras amrit naam ras at bhalaa kit biDh milai ras khaa-ay.

The Essence of the Ambrosial Naam is the most sublime essence; how can I get to taste this essence?

ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਹੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਤੁਸਾ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਇ ॥ (41)

जाइ पुछहु सोहागणी तुसा किउ करि मिलिआ प्रभु आइ ॥

jaa-ay puchhahu sohaaganee tusaa ki-o kar mili-aa parabh aa-ay.

I go and ask the happy soul-brides, "How did you come to meet God?

ਓਇ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਨ ਬੋਲਨੀ ਹਉ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਵਾ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ (41)

ओइ वेपरवाह न बोलनी हउ मलि मलि धोवा तिन पाइ ॥१॥

o-ay vayparvaah na bolnee ha-o mal mal Dhovaa tin paa-ay. ||1||

They are care-free and do not speak; I massage and wash their feet. ||1||

ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਜਣ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰਿ ॥ (41)

भाई रे मिलि सजण हरि गुण सारि ॥

bhaa-ee ray mil sajan har gun saar.

O Siblings of Destiny, meet with your spiritual friend, and dwell upon the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਸਜਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਢੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ (41)

सजणु सतिगुरु पुरखु है दुखु कढै हउमै मारि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

sajan satgur purakh hai dukh kadhai ha-umai maar. ||1|| rahaa-o.

The True Guru, the Primal Being, is your Friend, who shall drive out pain and subdue your ego. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਤਿਨ ਦਇਆ ਪਈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥ (41)

गुरमुखीआ सोहागणी तिन दइआ पई मनि आइ ॥

gurmukhee-aa sohaaganee tin da-i-aa pa-ee man aa-ay.

The Gurmukhs are the happy soul-brides; their minds are filled with kindness.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਚਨੁ ਰਤੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਖਾਇ ॥ (41)

सतिगुर वचनु रतंनु है जो मंने सु हरि रसु खाइ ॥

satgur vachan ratann hai jo mannay so har ras khaa-ay.

The Word of the True Guru is the Jewel. One who believes in it tastes the Sublime Essence of the Lord.

ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਵਡ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਖਾਧਾ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥੨॥ (41)

से वडभागी वड जाणीअहि जिन हरि रसु खाधा गुर भाइ ॥२॥

say vadbhaagee vad jaanee-ahi jin har ras khaaDhaa gur bhaa-ay. ||2||

Those who partake of the Lord's Sublime Essence, through the Guru's Love, are known as great and very fortunate. ||2||

ਇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਵਣਿ ਤਿਣਿ ਸਭਤੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਨਹੀ ਖਾਇ ॥ (41)

इहु हरि रसु वणि तिणि सभतु है भागहीण नही खाइ ॥

ih har ras van tin sabhat hai bhaagheen nahee khaa-ay.

This Sublime Essence of the Lord is in the forests, in the fields and everywhere, but the unfortunate ones do not taste it.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਲੈ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਰਹੇ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ ॥ (41)

बिनु सतिगुर पलै ना पवै मनमुख रहे बिललाइ ॥

bin satgur palai naa pavai manmukh rahay billaa-ay.

Without the True Guru, it is not obtained. The self-willed manmukhs continue to cry in misery.

ਓਇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਨਾ ਨਿਵਹਿ ਓਨਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਬਲਾਇ ॥੩॥ (41)

ओइ सतिगुर आगै ना निवहि ओना अंतरि क्रोधु बलाइ ॥३॥

o-ay satgur aagai naa niveh onaa antar kroDh balaa-ay. ||3||

They do not bow before the True Guru; the demon of anger is within them. ||3||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ (41)

हरि हरि हरि रसु आपि है आपे हरि रसु होइ ॥

har har har ras aap hai aapay har ras ho-ay.

The Lord Himself, Har, Har, Har, is the Sublime Essence. The Lord Himself is the Essence.

ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਵਸੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਚੋਇ ॥ (41)

आपि दइआ करि देवसी गुरमुखि अम्रितु चोइ ॥

aap da-i-aa kar dayvsee gurmukh amrit cho-ay.

In His Kindness, He blesses the Gurmukh with it; the Ambrosial Nectar of this Amrit trickles down.

ਸਭੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੫॥੬੯॥ (41)

सभु तनु मनु हरिआ होइआ नानक हरि वसिआ मनि सोइ ॥४॥५॥६९॥

sabh tan man hari-aa ho-i-aa naanak har vasi-aa man so-ay. ||4||5||69||

Then, the body and mind totally blossom forth and flourish; O Nanak, the Lord comes to dwell within the mind. ||4||5||69||

ਦਿਨਸੁ ਚੜੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਥਵੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਜਾਇ ॥ (41)

दिनसु चड़ै फिरि आथवै रैणि सबाई जाइ ॥

dinas charhai fir aathvai rain sabaa-ee jaa-ay.

The day dawns, and then it ends, and the night passes away.

ਆਵ ਘਟੈ ਨਰੁ ਨਾ ਬੁਝੈ ਨਿਤਿ ਮੂਸਾ ਲਾਜੁ ਟੁਕਾਇ ॥ (41)

आव घटै नरु ना बुझै निति मूसा लाजु टुकाइ ॥

aav ghatai nar naa bujhai nit moosaa laaj tukaa-ay.

Man's life is diminishing, but he does not understand. Each day, the mouse of death is gnawing away at the rope of life.

ਗੁੜੁ ਮਿਠਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਲਗਿ ਮਾਖੀ ਪਚੈ ਪਚਾਇ ॥੧॥ (41)

गुड़ु मिठा माइआ पसरिआ मनमुखु लगि माखी पचै पचाइ ॥१॥

gurh mithaa maa-i-aa pasri-aa manmukh lag maakhee pachai pachaa-ay. ||1||

Maya spreads out like sweet molasses; the self-willed manmukh is stuck like a fly, rotting away. ||1||

ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਮੈ ਮੀਤੁ ਸਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ (41)

भाई रे मै मीतु सखा प्रभु सोइ ॥

bhaa-ee ray mai meet sakhaa parabh so-ay.

O Siblings of Destiny, God is my Friend and Companion.

ਪੁਤੁ ਕਲਤੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਹੈ ਅੰਤਿ ਬੇਲੀ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ (41)

पुतु कलतु मोहु बिखु है अंति बेली कोइ न होइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

put kalat moh bikh hai ant baylee ko-ay na ho-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.

Emotional attachment to children and spouse is poison; in the end, no one will go along with you as your helper. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਉਬਰੇ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹੇ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥ (41)

गुरमति हरि लिव उबरे अलिपतु रहे सरणाइ ॥

gurmat har liv ubray alipat rahay sarnaa-ay.

Through the Guru's Teachings, some embrace love for the Lord, and are saved. They remain detached and unaffected, and they find the Sanctuary of the Lord.

ਓਨੀ ਚਲਣੁ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਖਰਚੁ ਲੀਆ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਇ ॥ (42)

ओनी चलणु सदा निहालिआ हरि खरचु लीआ पति पाइ ॥

onee chalan sadaa nihaali-aa har kharach lee-aa pat paa-ay.

They keep death constantly before their eyes; they gather the Provisions of the Lord's Name, and receive honor.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੰਨੀਅਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਲਏ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਇ ॥੨॥ (42)

गुरमुखि दरगह मंनीअहि हरि आपि लए गलि लाइ ॥२॥

gurmukh dargeh manee-ah har aap la-ay gal laa-ay. ||2||

The Gurmukhs are honored in the Court of the Lord. The Lord Himself takes them in His Loving Embrace. ||2||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਪੰਥੁ ਪਰਗਟਾ ਦਰਿ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਇ ॥ (42)

गुरमुखा नो पंथु परगटा दरि ठाक न कोई पाइ ॥

gurmukhaa no panth pargataa dar thaak na ko-ee paa-ay.

For the Gurmukhs, the Way is obvious. At the Lord's Door, they face no obstructions.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਨਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ (42)

हरि नामु सलाहनि नामु मनि नामि रहनि लिव लाइ ॥

har naam salaahan naam man naam rahan liv laa-ay.

They praise the Lord's Name, they keep the Naam in their minds, and they remain attached to the Love of the Naam.

ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨੀ ਦਰਿ ਵਜਦੇ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਇ ॥੩॥ (42)

अनहद धुनी दरि वजदे दरि सचै सोभा पाइ ॥३॥

anhad Dhunee dar vajday dar sachai sobhaa paa-ay. ||3||

The Unstruck Celestial Music vibrates for them at the Lord's Door, and they are honored at the True Door. ||3||

ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥ (42)

जिनी गुरमुखि नामु सलाहिआ तिना सभ को कहै साबासि ॥

jinee gurmukh naam sahaali-aa tinaa sabh ko kahai saabaas.

Those Gurmukhs who praise the Naam are applauded by everyone.

ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੈ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥ (42)

तिन की संगति देहि प्रभ मै जाचिक की अरदासि ॥

tin kee sangat deh parabh mai jaachik kee ardaas.

Grant me their company, God-I am a beggar; this is my prayer.

ਨਾਨਕ ਭਾਗ ਵਡੇ ਤਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਜਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੩੩॥੩੧॥੬॥੭੦॥ (42)

नानक भाग वडे तिना गुरमुखा जिन अंतरि नामु परगासि ॥४॥३३॥३१॥६॥७०॥

ਪਹਿਲੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਉਦਰ ਮੰਝਾਰਿ ॥ (76)

पहिलै पहरै रैणि कै वणजारिआ मित्रा हरि पाइआ उदर मंझारि ॥

pahilai pahrai rain kai vanjaari-aa mitraa har paa-i-aa udar manjhaar.

In the first watch of the night, O my merchant friend, the Lord places you in the womb.

ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਉਚਰੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰਿ ॥ (76)

हरि धिआवै हरि उचरै वणजारिआ मित्रा हरि हरि नामु समारि ॥

har Dhi-aavai har uchrai vanjaari-aa mitraa har har naam samaar.

You meditate on the Lord, and chant the Lord's Name, O my merchant friend. You contemplate the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਅਗਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਿਆ ॥ (76)

हरि हरि नामु जपे आराधे विचि अगनी हरि जपि जीविआ ॥

har har naam japay aaraaDhay vich agnee har jap jeevi-aa.

Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, and meditating on it within the fire of the womb, your life is sustained by dwelling on the Naam.

ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਭਇਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਸਰਸੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤ ਥੀਵਿਆ ॥ (76)

बाहरि जनमु भइआ मुखि लागा सरसे पिता मात थीविआ ॥

baahar janam bha-i-aa mukh laagaa sarsay pitaa maat theevi-aa.

You are born and you come out, and your mother and father are delighted to see your face.

ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਵਸਤੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਚੇਤਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਕਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ (76)

जिस की वसतु तिसु चेतहु प्राणी करि हिरदै गुरमुखि बीचारि ॥

jis kee vasat tis chaytahu paraanee kar hirdai gurmukh beechaar.

Remember the One, O mortal, to whom the child belongs. As Gurmukh, reflect upon Him within your heart.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪਹਿਲੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ (76)

कहु नानक प्राणी पहिलै पहरै हरि जपीऐ किरपा धारि ॥१॥

kaho naanak paraanee pahilai pahrai har japee-ai kirpaa Dhaar. ||1||

Says Nanak, O mortal, in the first watch of the night, dwell upon the Lord, who shall shower you with His Grace. ||1||

ਦੂਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ (76)

दूजै पहरै रैणि कै वणजारिआ मित्रा मनु लागा दूजै भाइ ॥

doojai pahrai rain kai vanjaari-aa mitraa man laagaa doojai bhaa-ay.

In the second watch of the night, O my merchant friend, the mind is attached to the love of duality.

ਮੇਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਲੀਐ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਲੇ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਇ ॥ (76)

मेरा मेरा करि पालीऐ वणजारिआ मित्रा ले मात पिता गलि लाइ ॥

mayraa mayraa kar paalee-ai vanjaari-aa mitraa lay maat pitaa gal laa-ay.

Mother and father hug you close in their embrace, claiming, "He is mine, he is mine"; so is the child brought up, O my merchant friend.

ਲਾਵੈ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਗਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਖਟਿ ਖਵਾਏ ॥ (76)

लावै मात पिता सदा गल सेती मनि जाणै खटि खवाए ॥

laavai maat pitaa sadaa gal saytee man jaanai khat khavaa-ay.

Your mother and father constantly hug you close in their embrace; in their minds, they believe that you will provide for them and support them.

ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਮੂੜਾ ਦਿਤੇ ਨੋ ਲਪਟਾਏ ॥ (76)

जो देवै तिसै न जाणै मूड़ा दिते नो लपटाए ॥

jo dayvai tisai na jaanai moorhaa ditay no laptaa-ay.

The fool does not know the One who gives; instead, he clings to the gift.

ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਕਰੈ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ (76)

कोई गुरमुखि होवै सु करै वीचारु हरि धिआवै मनि लिव लाइ ॥

ko-ee gurmukh hovai so karai veechaar har Dhi-aavai man liv laa-ay.

Rare is the Gurmukh who reflects upon, meditates upon, and within his mind, is lovingly attached to the Lord.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੂਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਖਾਇ ॥੨॥ (76)

कहु नानक दूजै पहरै प्राणी तिसु कालु न कबहूं खाइ ॥२॥

kaho naanak doojai pahrai paraanee tis kaal na kabahooN khaa-ay. ||2||

Says Nanak, in the second watch of the night, O mortal, death never devours you. ||2||

ਤੀਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਗਾ ਆਲਿ ਜੰਜਾਲਿ ॥ (76)

तीजै पहरै रैणि कै वणजारिआ मित्रा मनु लगा आलि जंजालि ॥

teejai pahrai rain kai vanjaari-aa mitraa man lagaa aal janjaal.

In the third watch of the night, O my merchant friend, your mind is entangled in worldly and household affairs.

ਧਨੁ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਵੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਨ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥ (76)

धनु चितवै धनु संचवै वणजारिआ मित्रा हरि नामा हरि न समालि ॥

Dhan chitvai Dhan sanchvai vanjaari-aa mitraa har naamaa har na samaal.

You think of wealth, and gather wealth, O my merchant friend, but you do not contemplate the Lord or the Lord's Name.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਸਮਾਲੈ ਜਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਅੰਤਿ ਸਖਾਈ ॥ (76)

हरि नामा हरि हरि कदे न समालै जि होवै अंति सखाई ॥

har naamaa har har kaday na samaalai je hovai ant sakhaa-ee.

You never dwell upon the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, who will be your only Helper and Support in the end.

ਇਹੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਪੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਝੂਠੀ ਅੰਤਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲਿਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਈ ॥ (77)

इहु धनु स्मपै माइआ झूठी अंति छोडि चलिआ पछुताई ॥

ih Dhan sampai maa-i-aa jhoothee ant chhod chali-aa pachhutaa-ee.

This wealth, property and Maya are false. In the end, you must leave these, and depart in sorrow.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥ (77)

जिस नो किरपा करे गुरु मेले सो हरि हरि नामु समालि ॥

jis no kirpaa karay gur maylay so har har naam samaal.

Those whom the Lord, in His Mercy, unites with the Guru, reflect upon the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੀਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸੇ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੩॥ (77)

कहु नानक तीजै पहरै प्राणी से जाइ मिले हरि नालि ॥३॥

kaho naanak teejai pahrai paraanee say jaa-ay milay har naal. ||3||

Says Nanak, in the third watch of the night, O mortal, they go, and are united with the Lord. ||3||

ਚਉਥੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਚਲਣ ਵੇਲਾ ਆਦੀ ॥ (77)

चउथै पहरै रैणि कै वणजारिआ मित्रा हरि चलण वेला आदी ॥

cha-uthai pahrai rain kai vanjaari-aa mitraa har chalan vaylaa aadee.

In the fourth watch of the night, O my merchant friend, the Lord announces the time of departure.

ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਸਭ ਚਲੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਦੀ ॥ (77)

करि सेवहु पूरा सतिगुरू वणजारिआ मित्रा सभ चली रैणि विहादी ॥

kar sayvhu pooraa satguroo vanjaari-aa mitraa sabh chalee rain vihaadee.

Serve the Perfect True Guru, O my merchant friend; your entire life-night is passing away.

ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਢਿਲ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਕਰਿਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਹੋਵਹੁ ॥ (77)

हरि सेवहु खिनु खिनु ढिल मूलि न करिहु जितु असथिरु जुगु जुगु होवहु ॥

har sayvhu khin khin dhil mool na karihu jit asthir jug jug hovhu.

Serve the Lord each and every instant-do not delay! You shall become eternal throughout the ages.

ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਸਦ ਮਾਣਹੁ ਰਲੀਆ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਖੋਵਹੁ ॥ (77)

हरि सेती सद माणहु रलीआ जनम मरण दुख खोवहु ॥

har saytee sad maanhu ralee-aa janam maran dukh khovhu.

Enjoy ecstasy forever with the Lord, and do away with the pains of birth and death.

ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਖਾਂਦੀ ॥ (77)

गुर सतिगुर सुआमी भेदु न जाणहु जितु मिलि हरि भगति सुखांदी ॥

gur satgur su-aamee bhayd na jaanhu jit mil har bhagat sukhaaNdee.

Know that there is no difference between the Guru, the True Guru, and your Lord and Master. Meeting with Him, take pleasure in the Lord's devotional service.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਚਉਥੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਸਫਲਿਓੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਦੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੩॥ (77)

कहु नानक प्राणी चउथै पहरै सफलिओ रैणि भगता दी ॥४॥१॥३॥

kaho naanak paraanee cha-uthai pahrai safli-o rain bhagtaa dee. ||4||1||3||

Says Nanak, O mortal, in the fourth watch of the night, the life-night of the devotee is fruitful. ||4||1||3||

मुंध इआणी पेईअड़ै किउ करि हरि दरसनु पिखै ॥

munDh i-aanee pay-ee-arhai ki-o kar har darsan pikhai.

How can the ignorant soul-bride obtain the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, while she is in this world of her father's home?

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਖੈ ॥ (78)

हरि हरि अपनी किरपा करे गुरमुखि साहुरड़ै कम सिखै ॥

har har apnee kirpaa karay gurmukh saahurrhai kamm sikhai.

When the Lord Himself grants His Grace, the Gurmukh learns the duties of her Husband's Celestial Home.

ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਖੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਏ ॥ (78)

साहुरड़ै कम सिखै गुरमुखि हरि हरि सदा धिआए ॥

saahurrhai kamm sikhai gurmukh har har sadaa Dhi-aa-ay.

The Gurmukh learns the duties of her Husband's Celestial Home; she meditates forever on the Lord, Har, Har.

ਸਹੀਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਬਾਹ ਲੁਡਾਏ ॥ (78)

सहीआ विचि फिरै सुहेली हरि दरगह बाह लुडाए ॥

sahee-aa vich firai suhaylee har dargeh baah ludaa-ay.

She walks happily among her companions, and in the Lord's Court, she swings her arms joyfully.

ਲੇਖਾ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕੀ ਬਾਕੀ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਿਰਖੈ ॥ (78)

लेखा धरम राइ की बाकी जपि हरि हरि नामु किरखै ॥

laykhaa Dharam raa-ay kee baakee jap har har naam kirkhai.

Her account is cleared by the Righteous Judge of Dharma, when she chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਮੁੰਧ ਇਆਣੀ ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦਿਖੈ ॥੧॥ (78)

मुंध इआणी पेईअड़ै गुरमुखि हरि दरसनु दिखै ॥१॥

munDh i-aanee pay-ee-arhai gurmukh har darsan dikhai. ||1||

The ignorant soul-bride becomes Gurmukh, and gains the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, while she is still in her father's house. ||1||

ਵੀਆਹੁ ਹੋਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੁਲਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ (78)

वीआहु होआ मेरे बाबुला गुरमुखे हरि पाइआ ॥

vee-aahu ho-aa mayray babulaa gurmukhay har paa-i-aa.

My marriage has been performed, O my father. As Gurmukh, I have found the Lord.

ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਕਟਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡੁ ਬਲਾਇਆ ॥ (78)

अगिआनु अंधेरा कटिआ गुर गिआनु प्रचंडु बलाइआ ॥

agi-aan anDhayraa kati-aa gur gi-aan parchand balaa-i-aa.

The darkness of ignorance has been dispelled. The Guru has revealed the blazing light of spiritual wisdom.

ਬਲਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਲਾਧਾ ॥ (78)

बलिआ गुर गिआनु अंधेरा बिनसिआ हरि रतनु पदारथु लाधा ॥

bali-aa gur gi-aan anDhayraa binsi-aa har ratan padaarath laaDhaa.

This spiritual wisdom given by the Guru shines forth, and the darkness has been dispelled. I have found the Priceless Jewel of the Lord.

ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਥਾ ਆਪੁ ਆਪੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਖਾਧਾ ॥ (78)

हउमै रोगु गइआ दुखु लाथा आपु आपै गुरमति खाधा ॥

ha-umai rog ga-i-aa dukh laathaa aap aapai gurmat khaaDhaa.

The sickness of my ego has been dispelled, and my pain is over and done. Through the Guru's Teachings, my identity has consumed my identical identity.

ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਇਆ ॥ (78)

अकाल मूरति वरु पाइआ अबिनासी ना कदे मरै न जाइआ ॥

akaal moorat var paa-i-aa abhinaasee naa kaday marai na jaa-i-aa.

I have obtained my Husband Lord, the Akaal Moorat, the Undying Form. He is Imperishable; He shall never die, and He shall never ever leave.

ਵੀਆਹੁ ਹੋਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੋਲਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ (78)

वीआहु होआ मेरे बाबोला गुरमुखे हरि पाइआ ॥२॥

vee-aahu ho-aa mayray baabolaa gurmukhay har paa-i-aa. ||2||

My marriage has been performed, O my father. As Gurmukh, I have found the Lord. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੁਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੰਞ ਸੁਹੰਦੀ ॥ (78)

हरि सति सते मेरे बाबुला हरि जन मिलि जंञ सुहंदी ॥

har sat satay mayray babulaa har jan mil janj suhandee.

The Lord is the Truest of the True, O my father. Meeting with the humble servants of the Lord, the marriage procession looks beautiful.

ਪੇਵਕੜੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਖਰੀ ਸੋਹੰਦੀ ॥ (78)

पेवकड़ै हरि जपि सुहेली विचि साहुरड़ै खरी सोहंदी ॥

payvkarhai har jap suhaylee vich saahurrhai kharee sohandee.

She who chants the Lord's Name is happy in this world of her father's home, and in the next world of her Husband Lord, she shall be very beautiful.

ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਖਰੀ ਸੋਹੰਦੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੇਵਕੜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿਆ ॥ (78)

साहुरड़ै विचि खरी सोहंदी जिनि पेवकड़ै नामु समालिआ ॥

saahurrhai vich kharee sohandee jin payvkarhai naam samaali-aa.

In her Husband Lord's Celestial Home, she shall be most beautiful, if she has remembered the Naam in this world.

ਸਭੁ ਸਫਲਿਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਜਿਣਿ ਪਾਸਾ ਢਾਲਿਆ ॥ (78)

सभु सफलिओ जनमु तिना दा गुरमुखि जिना मनु जिणि पासा ढालिआ ॥

sabh safli-o janam tinaa daa gurmukh jinaa man jin paasaa dhaali-aa.

Fruitful are the lives of those who, as Gurmukh, have conquered their minds-they have won the game of life.

ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸੋਹਿਆ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਨੰਦੀ ॥ (78)

हरि संत जना मिलि कारजु सोहिआ वरु पाइआ पुरखु अनंदी ॥

har sant janaa mil kaaraj sohi-aa var paa-i-aa purakh anandee.

Joining with the humble Saints of the Lord, my actions bring prosperity, and I have obtained the Lord of Bliss as my Husband.

ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੋਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੰਞ ਸੋੁਹੰਦੀ ॥੩॥ (78)

हरि सति सति मेरे बाबोला हरि जन मिलि जंञ सोहंदी ॥३॥

har sat sat mayray baabolaa har jan mil janj sohandee. ||3||

The Lord is the Truest of the True, O my father. Joining with the humble servants of the Lord, the marriage party has been embellished. ||3||

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੁਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਮੈ ਦਾਜੋ ॥ (78)

हरि प्रभु मेरे बाबुला हरि देवहु दानु मै दाजो ॥

har parabh mayray babulaa har dayvhu daan mai daajo.

O my father, give me the Name of the Lord God as my wedding gift and dowry.

ਹਰਿ ਕਪੜੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਵਰੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਾਜੋ ॥ (79)

हरि कपड़ो हरि सोभा देवहु जितु सवरै मेरा काजो ॥

har kaprho har sobhaa dayvhu jit savrai mayraa kaajo.

Give me the Lord as my wedding gown, and the Lord as my glory, to accomplish my works.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਾਜੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ॥ (79)

हरि हरि भगती काजु सुहेला गुरि सतिगुरि दानु दिवाइआ ॥

har har bhagtee kaaj suhaylaa gur satgur daan divaa-i-aa.

Through devotional worship to the Lord, this ceremony is made blissful and beautiful; the Guru, the True Guru, has given this gift.

ਖੰਡਿ ਵਰਭੰਡਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਈ ਇਹੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਨ ਰਲੈ ਰਲਾਇਆ ॥ (79)

खंडि वरभंडि हरि सोभा होई इहु दानु न रलै रलाइआ ॥

khand varbhand har sobhaa ho-ee ih daan na ralai ralaa-i-aa.

Across the continents, and throughout the Universe, the Lord's Glory is pervading. This gift is not diminished by being diffused among all.

ਹੋਰਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦਾਜੁ ਜਿ ਰਖਿ ਦਿਖਾਲਹਿ ਸੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਕਚੁ ਪਾਜੋ ॥ (79)

होरि मनमुख दाजु जि रखि दिखालहि सु कूड़ु अहंकारु कचु पाजो ॥

hor manmukh daaj je rakh dikhaaleh so koorh ahaNkaar kach paajo.

Any other dowry, which the self-willed manmukhs offer for show, is only false egotism and a worthless display.

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੁਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਮੈ ਦਾਜੋ ॥੪॥ (79)

हरि प्रभ मेरे बाबुला हरि देवहु दानु मै दाजो ॥४॥

har parabh mayray babulaa har dayvhu daan mai daajo. ||4||

O my father, please give me the Name of the Lord God as my wedding gift and dowry. ||4||

ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਬੋਲਾ ਪਿਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਧਨ ਵੇਲ ਵਧੰਦੀ ॥ (79)

हरि राम राम मेरे बाबोला पिर मिलि धन वेल वधंदी ॥

har raam raam mayray baabolaa pir mil Dhan vayl vaDhandee.

The Lord, Raam, Raam, is All-pervading, O my father. Meeting her Husband Lord, the soul-bride blossoms forth like the flourishing vine.

ਹਰਿ ਜੁਗਹ ਜੁਗੋ ਜੁਗ ਜੁਗਹ ਜੁਗੋ ਸਦ ਪੀੜੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਚਲੰਦੀ ॥ (79)

हरि जुगह जुगो जुग जुगह जुगो सद पीड़ी गुरू चलंदी ॥

har jugah jugo jug jugah jugo sad peerhee guroo chalandee.

In age after age, through all the ages, forever and ever, those who belong to the Guru's Family shall prosper and increase.

ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਪੀੜੀ ਚਲੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ (79)

जुगि जुगि पीड़ी चलै सतिगुर की जिनी गुरमुखि नामु धिआइआ ॥

jug jug peerhee chalai satgur kee jinee gurmukh naam Dhi-aa-i-aa.

Age after age, the Family of the True Guru shall increase. As Gurmukh, they meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਜਾਵੈ ਨਿਤ ਦੇਵੈ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਇਆ ॥ (79)

हरि पुरखु न कब ही बिनसै जावै नित देवै चड़ै सवाइआ ॥

har purakh na kab hee binsai jaavai nit dayvai charhai savaa-i-aa.

The Almighty Lord never dies or goes away. Whatever He gives, keeps on increasing.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੋਹੰਦੀ ॥ (79)

नानक संत संत हरि एको जपि हरि हरि नामु सोहंदी ॥

naanak sant sant har ayko jap har har naam sohandee.

O Nanak, the One Lord is the Saint of Saints. Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, the soul-bride is bountiful and beautiful.
