Set against the historic backdrop of The Priory of Our Lady of Thetford, just a short stroll from the train station and within easy reach of the centre of the vibrant town, Abbey Barns presents an exciting selection of one to four-bedroom homes from Tey Developments.

Thetford livingSituated in the heart of the beautiful Brecks, near the Norfolk-Suffolk border, the historic market town of Thetford is known for its excellent road and rail links.

Not only does it enjoy access to the completely dualled A11, with its connections to the A14, M11, Stansted Airport and London, but, with direct trains to Cambridge and Norwich and a new bus terminal, it is ideally placed for commuting to East Anglia’s major centres and is proving a popular choice with discerning homeowners seeking convenience as well as affordability.

Thetford itself is one of the most ancient settlements in Britain and is believed to have once been the sixth biggest town in the kingdom. Boudicca, Queen of the Iceni, is said to have resided here and this was also once the seat of the Monarchs of East Anglia.

Today Thetford’s rich and fascinating history is still present in its copious flint architecture and historical remains. A bustling hub, with a spectrum of employment opportunities and a range of schools, including the independent, co-educational Thetford Grammar School, the town marries its great heritage with ease of daily living.

It offers an array of independent and high street shops, as well as restaurants, cafés and pubs. There is a library and a leisure centre, with a swimming pool, and a new cinema, hotel and retail and leisure area will be completed by 2016 as part of the Thetford Riverside Development.

Thetford is also famous for having the largest lowland pine forest in the country, with its opportunities for walking, cycling, horse-riding and adventure activities. There are river walks through the town, a number of museums and historical sites, such as Castle Hill, which has the highest Norman motte in England, and, of course, The Priory of Our Lady of Thetford. 3
