ABC Preschool (Ages 4-5) Ashley Nagel Mission Statement At ABC
Preschool, we strive to provide a safe and developmentally
appropriate environment for preschool age children.We teach to the
needs of each individual child and cater to their interests. Our
focus is to provide a stimulating and hands-on educational
experience which promotes each child's social/emotional, physical,
and cognitive development. Philosophy At ABC Preschool we believe
in child-centered and play-based learning.We believe that each
child is important, as well as their individual interests.We
believe that children explore and discover through play.We
encourage children to use their senses and imagination to create
and act out life scenarios, while discovering the world. Curriculum
Aligned with the
Early Learning Guidelines ELG is based on scientific research, the
values of professionals in the Early Childhood profession, and the
importance of young children and families. The Guidelines were
created for use in a preschool, daycare, or home settings. The
Guidelines stress the importance of school and family
relationships, and show respect for the cultural differences that
each student will bring to the classroom.The Guidelines are
understandable for parents, and reassure the parents that
developmentally appropriate practices are of the utmost importance.
Early Learning Guidelines
The Guidelines incorporate eight domain areas including, health and
physical development, mathematics and logical thinking, social and
emotional development, approaches to learning, expressive arts and
creative thinking, language and literacy, science and problem
solving, and social studies. Daily Schedule 8:45 9:00

show and tell time every Thursday. Students caregivers will provide
snacks for their own student, or bring treats for the class on
special days. Four Week Overview Week One: Week Two:
Monday- Explore the classroom and meet classmates.Treasure hunt to
discover the classroom.Ice breakers to meet friends. Wednesday
Classroom rules. Acting out the rules. Thursday- All about me
day.Show and tell of a favorite thing. Week Two: Monday- Working
together.Build towers in pairs. Wednesday- Read book that discusses
differences.Rainbow Fish Discuss the Golden Rule and how to treat
everyone with kindness. Thursday- Discuss Birthday traditions in
each childs family.Ask children to bring a picture of themselves
from a past birthday for the birthday board to be displayed in the
classroom. Four Week Overview Week Three: Week Four:
Monday-Discuss types of feelings.Role play/ act out feelings.
Wednesday How to deal with being angry.Turtle Technique. Thursday-
Identifying feelings.Fishing for Feelings Week Four: Monday- A
week.Make A sounds.Write the letter A.Read Ten Apples up on Top.
Wednesday- Alligator A art project.Read Alligator Baby. Thursday-
Review sounds and review writing the letter A.Taste the letter A;
make apple sauce.Bring in Show and Tell items that go with the
letter A. Kindergarten Transition Plan
Plan several evenings throughout the school year and summer where
students are able to go to the Kindergarten room. Students and
families will meet the Kindergarten teacher. Students and families
will participate in group activities that show kindergarten
readiness skills. Students will be familiarized with the classroom,
building, and playground. Parents will attend meetings that
describe activities and routines they can create at home to be sure
their child is ready for kindergarten, and also ask questions of
the kindergarten teacher. I, as the preschool teacher, will compile
a portfolio of projects throughout the year to pass on to the
Kindergarten teacher.It will contain assessments, projects, quotes
from the student, a list of favorite books and activities, and
pictures from their preschool experience. Dates, Times, & Costs

Design in Schools Grant-
Target funds in-school arts programs that enhance students'
classroom curricula by bringing the arts and cultural experiences
to schools, such as in-school performances, artist-in-residency
programs and workshops in schools. ($2000) Target Early Childhood
Reading Grant- Target funds programs that foster a love of reading
and encourage young children, preschool through third grade, to
read together with their families. Reading grants support programs
such as library story-times and family reading nights. ($2000) LEGO
Childrens Fund Grants- The LEGO Childrens Fund provides grants for
collaborative programs to organizations that focus on early
childhood education and development; technology and communication
projects that advance learning opportunities; or sport or athletic
programs that concentrate on underserved youth.(The maximum award
is $5000.) Possible Grants ND Early Childhood Education Environment
Grant-
Champion Creatively Alive Children Creative Leadership Grant
(Crayola)- Grant for building your schools creative capacity.Each
grant-winning school receives $2500 and $1000 of Crayola products.
Campbells Labels for Education- Campbells Labels for Education
program gives schools free educational equipment in exchange for
labels and UPCs from various products. The maximum award varies. ND
Early Childhood Education Environment Grant- Aid in covering costs
incurred to get the physical learning space ready for early
childhood programs. (Up to $5000) Rules and Regulations Class size
is approximately 12 students.
ABC meets all health, fire, and safety standards. The classroom has
adequate space (35 sq. ft per child). No transportation service.
The teacher (me) will have a bachelors degree in Early Childhood
Education and Elementary Education Parents will be encouraged to
participate in the childs education as a classroom aid. (Volunteer)
A family outreach program is implemented and parents receive
informational packets weekly to extend their childs learning at
