December Scripture Songs CD

The ABC Series is on the December CD. There is also a “Family Game” that includes the verses from each of the CDs, for each month. These games are designed to build “Bible Memory Skills”, while having a great time! Be sure to check the web site for up-to-date information on these Bi-ble Memory Tools.

An Action Packed “Family Game” for 2-6 players!

Do NOT let the name trick you into thinking that this game is just for pre-schoolers and children! This is a “Family Game” that everyone enjoys, no matter how old.

About The Game “ABC Scripture Songs” is a powerful way to learn 26 Special Bible Verses! This GAME was created to help re-enforce a Bible Verse for each letter of the ALPHABET. It was inspired by the “ABC Scripture Songs” that are found on the December CD by the Runyons. Enjoy family fun as you make sets & runs in this exciting Bible Verse Game!

Note:

We call the first phrase of a verse... The “Memory Starter”. This is used to jump start your ability to memo-rize the whole verse. The Refer-ence is the “Address” for the verse.

How To Win

Be the first player to display 4 SETS and/or RUNS...

There is a SET of 4 Cards for each letter of the alphabet. Each set is also numbered, according to the letter... (example) A=1, B=2, C=3... Each SET of 4 Cards is easily recognized, not only by the number, but by its own border color and/or design.

How To Set-Up The Game

Remove the 6 “Memory Starter Refer-

ence Cards”. Hand them out for each player to use as a memory tool...

Shuffle the 104 ABC Cards & DEAL 5

to each player, face down.

Put your cards in your hand. Placing

them in Alphabetical / Numerical order will help you during the game...

Remaining Cards are placed as a

DRAW PILE, face down.

Turn over the TOP CARD and leave it

face up to start the DISCARD PILE.

PLAYER to the left of the DEALER

goes first... play continues clockwise.

Understanding Sets,

Runs & Splitting 1. SETS: You may play SETS of at least

2 CARDS each. These “SETS” are cards with the same number or begin-ning letter. You can use 2, making a pair, or 3 of a kind to make a set, as long as the numbers are the same.

2. RUNS: You may play RUNS of at least 3 CARDS each by combining cards in consecutive order. Ex: 19, 20, 21 or if you are looking at the al-phabet... I, J, & K, would also be a RUN.

3. SPLITTING: If you have 3 CARDS in a SET, such as... G=7, G=7 and G=7 and you draw another G=7, then you can split and make 2 pairs! Now you have 2 SETS... G=7 / G=7 & G=7 / G=7. The same is true with the RUNS... Example... 21, 22, 23, 24, 25... are on the table and you draw a 20 or a 26. You can now place this new card at the beginning or the end of your run and split it, making two RUNS with 3 cards in each. You might also draw another 23... You can insert it after the 22 and still make the split, creating 2 RUNS. Just remem-ber RUNS must have 3 CARDS in nu-merical order and you figure it out as you play!

4. You may ADD to SETS and RUNS on your next turn. You can also play new SETS and RUNS... Make as many as you can on your turn.

Remember you are NOT playing for points... You are trying to get

4 Sets and/or Runs!

On Your TurnOn Your Turn

Take 2 Cards... Do one of two

things:

Draw first from the DIS-

CARD PILE, if you can use that card, then draw one more card from the DRAW PILE...

If you cannot use the card

that is on the Discard Pile, then draw 2 from the Draw Pile.

After you DRAW your 2

CARDS, you may play any SETS and RUNS that you may have.

As the game gets going... You

may rearrange your cards (on the table) on your turn to help make SETS or RUNS. “Thou Shalt Not” pick up cards from the table and put them back in your hand.

You may lay down any SINGLE

CARDS... Play them alone, but only if they are part of someone else’s SETS or RUNS. This reserves the CARD for your use, on a next turn. You may NOT play a SINGLE CARD against someone else’s SIN-GLE CARD.

If you run out of cards before

you make your final DISCARD... You may pick up 5 more from the DRAW PILE, and continue your turn.

To END Your TurnTo END Your Turn

After playing all the cards that you can (sets, runs or single cards)... It is now time to end your turn! Choose a CARD from your hand and beginning with the player to your left... Show them the card and ask them if they have that “Number/Letter CARD”. If they do not have it, continue clockwise, showing each player and asking if they have it. The first player that has a match-ing card MUST give it to you, and you can lay down the 2 cards as a SET. If, on this “ending of your turn” you get the card that you asked for, you DO NOT have to DISCARD, and your turn is now over! However, if no one has that card... You MUST DISCARD it and END your turn... If your DISCARD causes you to run out of cards, you will DRAW 5 new cards when you start your next turn.
