Notes and Caveats:
Rates are for all ages and both sexes, unless otherwise noted
Rates are age adjusted, unless otherwise noted.
These presentations of death rates at the census track level are not tested for statistically significant differences across racial/ethnic groups or between census tracts.
They are meant as preliminary illustrations of the project’s analytic capacities and to stimulate discussion and feedback from expert groups.
Future versions will aggregate census tracts into neighborhoods that are meaningful to community partners.

33 COMMUNITIES OF ALBUQUERQUE
141 Census Tracts were aggregated into 33 ‘communities’ representing coherent neighborhoods in the city of Albuquerque and surrounding county.
Social determinant and health outcome data was calculated for each of those 33 communities to produce most of these maps. Two maps present data at the elementary school level.
Future versions will explore using other definitions of communities, for example: coalitions of neighborhood associations, police beats, state representative districts, etc.
The table at right gives the names and codes for each of the 33 communities. Each name corresponds to a major intersection within the community. The adjacent map points out familiar landmarks in Albuquerque.
Input is appreciated regarding better ways to define the geography of your community.
