a.b.e.® Construction Chemicals was founded in 1932 but started operations

in 1939 in Durban as a supplier of bitumen to municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal.

a.b.e.® has over the years grown in both size and diversity to become a major

supplier of specialised construction products to the building, civil engineering

and building maintenance industries, supplying products directly to customers

through its branch network as well as through builders’ merchants and

hardware stores.

CHRYSO Southern Africa acquired a.b.e.® in September 2010. CHRYSO SA has

established itself as a major supplier of concrete and cement admixtures in

South Africa due to its investment in plant infrastructure, new technologies as

well as technical and customer support.

The acquisition by CHRYSO provides a.b.e.® with new technologies and

ongoing research and development programs to further enhance its position

in the market and add value to their customers.

a.b.e.® is committed to its sustainability policy, adopted from the CHRYSO

group, to sustain the seven values across economic, environmental and social

commitments.

a.b.e.® will continually invest and work on improving its structures as well

Construction SalesThis channel focuses on sales to general contractors ranging from large construction companies to the small

house builder, as well as specifiers, developers, facility managers and various engineers.

RetailThe retail customer base comprises hardware and building supply outlets ranging from the large groups with a

national footprint, to the small corner hardware store. Agricultural co-ops are also important customers, along

with several agents and distributors who operate in defined markets.

ExportsOur export channel operates out of the a.b.e.® Head Office in Johannesburg and provides specialised services and

support to its overseas markets. Currently a.b.e.® has representation in Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe,

Malawi, Ghana, Zambia, Mauritius, and Madagascar. In addition, a.b.e.® has license agreements with partners in
