' The RRPis an amazing platform that highlights the athleticism, versatility, and value of Thoroughbreds to equestrians, which helps to increase demand for them after racing.
'' - Elisa Wallace International Event Rider, U.S. Olympic Team Alternate, 2018 Thoroughbred Makeover Champion
ABOUT THE RETIRED RACEHORSE PROJECT The Retired Racehorse Project has made a name for itself as the non-profit entity behind the Thoroughbred Makeover, the largest and most lucrative racehorse retraining competition in the world. Each year hundreds of horses, all in their first year of retraining after racing, come from across the U. S. and Canada to compete for more than $135,000 in prize money.
But the RRP is so much more than a single event. Throughout the year and around the country we offer clinics aimed at educating equestrians on how to retrain recently retired racehorses. We publish Off-Traci< Thoroughbred fvlagazine, a high-quality magazine that includes news, training tips and feature stories from the Thoroughbred sport horse world. Our expansive website offers educational resources, a classified section for Thoroughbred sport horses and sport horse-prospects, and the Thoroughbred Sport Tracker, the internet's only platform offering aggregated data on Thoroughbreds in non-racing sports.
Our efforts are directed toward a single goal - to increase the value and demand for Thoroughbreds after racing- and the data, some of which can be found in the following pages, shows it's working, and working well. The Makeover has grown year after year, and more equestrians are choosing Thoroughbreds than ever before.
From all of us at the RRP, thank you for your interest. Please feel free to reach out to myself or any of our staff with any questions or to discuss how we can work together to support Thoroughbreds after racing.
With gratitude, Jen Roytz, Executive Director J roytz@reti red racehorse p roj ect.o rg
IMPACT OF THE RRP

' TCA has been the title sponsor of the Makeover since its inception in 2012 because it increases the demand for retired racers among prospective and current horse owners, gives Thoroughbreds new skills in one or more disciplines which ultimately increases their value in the marketplace, showcases the incredible versatility and heart of the Thoroughbred, and brings awareness to the importance of the post-racetrack well-being of our equine athletes.
- Erin Crady '' Executive Director, Thoroughbred Charities of America
9 The Makeover brings ' together people from so many facets of the equine industry. This diverse crowd allows us as a business to interact with a wide variety of decision-makers within equine health care. Not to mention, it's a wonderful showcase of beautiful horses moving onto successful new careers.
