HISTORYClassical guitars are referred to as "gut string guitar," "nylon string guitar," "flamenco guitar," "flat top guitar," and the "spruce top guitar." they can be identified from various time periods as having various features and shapes. Some even had double-string courses as opposed to single-string courses, as well as special numbers of strings and diverse tunings.

FEATURESThe classical guitar consists of a wide neck, and the bodies of the guitars are hollow. they possess a flat top sounding board and have a single circular opening in the sounding board. It uses thin wood in the body for tone, and the shape of the classical guitar is modern in shape.

TYPESThe guitar strings of classical guitars were originally made of catgut. however, today there are not many guitar string makers that sell catgut strings. The problem with catgut strings is that they do not carry an extended pitch, and they're also more like to break. Therefore, many vendors do not warranty catgut strings.

Therefore, just because the name of the guitar is classical, it does not mean that only classical music is played on the guitar. Other genres such as flamenco, jazz and many others are also played on the classical guitar. the soft, beautiful sounds created by classical guitars will spice up any song.
