The person who wants distinctive facial features, every- day, year after year—professional women, housewives,mothers, and athletic women who don’t want to beconcerned with smearing makeup. Before any procedure, an initial consultation is arranged todetermine shape, size, and color. A medical history formmust be completed and a spot test will be offered. Theactual procedure takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on theareas receiving the pig ment. A combination of topicalanesthetics are used, producing total numbness or a mildtingling sensation..

How long does it take to recover?

A slight swelling and redness will be present for 1 - 2days. Eyes will look like you‘ve had a good cry andsometimes there is a little bruising. The intensity of thepermanent makeup for the first 5 days will be stronger thanthe final color. About 40% to 50% of the color willexfoliate off. Patients are given aftercare information andadvised to continue with their normal routine. After 4 to 6weeks, the procedure heals completely and a touch-up isrequired for perfection.

How long does permanent makeup last?

With age, sun exposure, metabolism and natural skinexfoliation it will fade somewhat after 2-5 years and can befreshened with a touch-up. However, the more intense thecolor, the less obvious the change. For example, softblonde eyebrows will fade sooner than darker browneyebrows. Soft taupe eyeliner will fade sooner than blackeyeliner. This process varies from individual to individualaccording to their skin type and lifestyle.
