INTRODUCTIONHotelbeds Group is a business-to-business (B2B) provider to the global travel industry.
The Group’s proprietary technology helps providers of travel services distribute their offering to travel sellers globally via an easy-to-use, advanced technology platform that increases reach, revenue and yield for both the provider and the seller.
Additionally the Group also owns and operates several B2B related travel brands, offering in-bound destination services (for example tours or transfers) in around 40 countries, visa outsourcing, shoreside cruise solutions and more.
The company is arranged into four business units:

around 120 source markets globally.

• Advanced API makes XML connectivity access simple and quick – plus white labelling and widget solutions on offer.
• The technology platform handles up to 400M data requests per day from users worldwide.

Asia-Pacific represents a fast growing part of the Hotelbeds Group – being China already its biggest market in the region.

In 2015 the company launched APItude, the fastest and lightest API on the market, and Maxiroom, a hotel partner portal. Both platforms are designed to be simpler, faster, smarter and easier to use to enhance the Hotelbeds experience.
• Currently the company is working with Amazon Web Services to transition to an open-source, cloud-based IT infrastructure.
• There are 9 call centre hubs with around 400 employees providing support 24/7 in 20 languages.
• In the Transfer & Activities Bank (TAB) there are – amongst many other activities – tickets for Disneyland, Barcelona Football Club, and Cirque du Soleil.
• Leading hotel chains such as Hilton and AccorHotels are available to travel sellers via the platform.
• Household name online travel agencies such as Getaroom.com and tour operators such as TUI Deutschland, Amoma, Prodo, Travel Republic or British Airways Holidays.
• In 2015 Hotelbeds Group and its companies won 8 awards, including TT Services, recognised as the Best Visa Facilitation Company at the India Travel Awards, and Bedsonline winning the Travel TTG award. In 2016 Hotelbeds Group was awarded best Company to work for in Spain by Actualidad Económica magazine and Best Online Travel Wholesaler at Travel Weekly Asia’s 2016 Readers Choice Awards.

HISTORY Since its inception in 2001 Hotelbeds Group has gone from strength-to-strength to become a truly global business employing 6,150 staff across 153 offices.
Through its commitment to developing its innovative distribution platform and targeting fast growing markets the Hotelbeds Group managed to grow its total transaction value (TTV)* to €3.80 billion in 2014/15.
* The “total transaction value (TTV)” is the sum of the retail value of all the travel services sold through the Hotelbeds Group distribution platform.

Joan VilàExecutive Chairman Joan developed his career in the Barceló Travel Group, which was integrated into First Choice Holidays PLC (UK) in 2000. In 2007 First Choice Holidays merged TUI AG to form TUI Travel PLC. After the merger of TUI Travel PLC and TUI AG in 2014, the group, under Joan Vilà’s leadership, was rebranded as Hotelbeds Group but remained part of TUI Group until its sale to Cinven and CPPIB in September 2016.
Joan has an MBA from IESE, a degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona and has completed development programs at Columbia Business School and IMD.
Carlos MuñozManaging Director, Bedbank Carlos developed his career in the Aeronautical and Telecommunication industries, with positions at Retevisión, BT and GMV. He has been in the travel industry since 1999 when he joined the Barceló Travel Group.
Following the integration of Barceló Destination Services into First Choice Holidays PLC (UK) in 2000, Carlos was appointed Operations Director for Hotelbeds in 2001, later becoming Managing Director in 2008. In 2015 he was appointed Managing Director of the Bedbank Business Unit for Hotelbeds Group.
Carlos holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Barcelona Tech University (UPC) and a Master’s Degree in Space Telecommunications from Telecom Paris.
Hotelbeds Group became an independent company in September 2016 under the ownership of Cinven and the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board.
