bee tips:• Want to study more? You can

go to www.myspellit.com for more words. Myspellit.com is the official site for school champions to use to prepare for the county and regional bee.

• You may ask the definition, language of origin and to have the word used in a sentence to ensure you are spelling the word correctly.

study tips:• Do you know anyone who is trying to learn a

new foreign language? Does this person have a textbook? Find textbooks for various foreign languages and peruse the vocabulary sections. Some spelling patterns might surface!

• Take a look at various dictionaries for foreign languages that use the Roman alphabet. Look at the pronunciations for the entries. You might gain a sense of sound and spelling correspondences for words that have come into English from these languages.

• Do you have an “electronic” dictionary that has a search feature? If so, search for all the words in the dictionary that have a particular language of origin. Look at each list of words from a given language and see if you can spot spelling patterns within this language.

• Visit www.myspellit.com for additional language, study tips and pronunciation of foreign words.
